I got my new Car and Driver in the mail last week, with an article on the new C7 Vette. I am not sure how accurate it is, but it's probably close. Overall, I like the car better than the C6, I think it looks great (other than the tail lights). Car and Driver seems to like it too, saying it's the best looking Vette since the 63-67's. Some nice high tech features like aluminum frame rails on all models, carbon fiber body panels, 7 speed manual, dry sump available in std Vettes (optional) and a weight reduction (3000 lb weight target).

Here's a link:

Any opinions?

My latest issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines had a short article on the new C7 vette. 450 hp and 11:5 compression 0-60 in less than 4 seconds...I just hope they build it! In september of 1966 I was 14 years old and I rode my bike to the local chevy dealer to see the new 67 corvettes. They had a new big block 427... burgandy with black stripes 4 speed corvette. Stinger hood 3x2 barrel carbs with black interior! The 67 big block corvettes have been my dream car since that day! If I remember correctly that cars window sticker was $6,500! A kings ransom !!! This new C7 might be my new favorite.

The shop where I take our vehicles for alignment had a whole lot of bad things to say about the way the more recent Vets could not stay aligned on the rough (pot hole) roads of South West Pennsylvania.

I looked on the Vet website and even posted a few things about what that shop said, and most seamed to say that there were no problems with the recent Vets regarding how they held alignment.

So I don't know who to believe regarding that, but I am kinda thinking that the people who do these alignments know more about what is going on with alignments than the people who just sit in these vehicles.

So if there was (is) a problem with the way the more recent Vets hold alignment, I would hope that with the new Vet it has been corrected.

Even the finest fanaticals from Zuffenhausen admit this is the world's best $50,000 car. And it just got better.

Vettes are very reliable and cheap to own especially when compared to the exotics they can run with and even outrun at the track.

Resale says a lot about any car...

I think it looks VERY good, although I would have kept the tail lights round/ovoid just to differenciate it from the 'corporate Chebbie look'.

I'm not so sure the much anticipated (and expected) retro split rear window would have looked right on this style.

The ONLY thing I REALLY do not like about it is the MANDATORY AGM on the new LT1, although I do understand why they were forced to do this.
I was hoping it would be standard on the base slushbox cars, but there would be a delete option on the manuals (sort of like the 5th gen SSes are set up).

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Chevy/GM find a way to NOT use AGM on the limited run, high performance ZR1/Z06 (and maybe even the Grand Sport) models. (YES, I AM begging!

No doubt, the C7 will be a great American sports car. It will be a step up from the C6 in performance and refinement. My only personal disappointment is with the styling. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a very good looking car. It just doesn't have enough vette heritage in the styling. With every other vette on the road, you see it and immediately identify it as a vette, even if you're not familiar with the different generations. But let's face it... the vette as gotten a reputation for being an old guy's toy. (I resemble that statement...LOL) I think GM wanted to attract a younger market so they leaned toward a more Euro styling. It's not your fathers vette... let's see how that works out for them... this time.

Relax, man. The aftermarket is already working on the tuning for this car. You can turn it off easily.

I agree it is sad that it must be fitted with the hardware whether you like it or not.

I think he means AFM, the fuel management scheme where half the cylinders shut off.

Whew...I was beginning to wonder why anyone would want turn of the Artillery Gun Module...

Looks are OK definitely some Ferrari influencing, hopefully all the venting is actually functional...but from the back how will I be able to tell the difference between it and a Camaro?
