I have an '02 Trans Am WS6. It has a pretty healthy LS1, puting out about 450 RWHP. Redline is 7,100. What filter would you recommend on this engine? It currently has Ravenol 5w30 in it with a K&N HP-1007 filter. Stick with the K&N? Is something like a Wix Endurance too restrictive? Would the Purolator Boss be a good compromise? Of the filters below, I have listed both the short and long versions. Ground clearance is a concern on this car. I do like that the Microgard has a bypass valve, should it ever need to flow more than what the media might allow. I'm just thinking "out loud" here. What are your thoughts?

K&N HP-1007
Fram FE9837 / FE10575
MicroGard Select MSL51522 / MSL51042
Carquest Premium Blue 85522 / 85042
Purolator Boss PBL25288 / PBL14006

The fram endurance is the one I'd use. Although it filters the best it should also flow the best because of the fully synthetic media and it's wire backed. With that filter you can do 3k oil changes but you wouldn't even need to bother to change it every time or even 3th run. They have a high holding capacity so i wouldn't worry about leaving it on there for at least 4 runs.

FE9873 is the filter i would go with if the pan is still 13/16-16. dual layer wire backed media with amazing efficiency to boot.

The number you posted are for two different generations of engine for each brand. You need to know what pan you have. I think all LS engines had metric threads but the difference is where the bypass is.

I think on Fram for whatever gen truck engine a 2011 or that era 3.6L engines used the short PH10060 or long PH10575. These are metric thread with a bypass in the filter. I think there are some other filters that have a different bypass pressure in the can.

also, would highly reccomend upping to a 40 weight being you’re making elevated power. HPL PCEO 5w-40 gets my vote. make sure regardless of what oil filter you choose to let the oil get up to temperature before romping on it as that will only cause the bypass in the filter head to open.

On performance applications I personally would go with wire backed. FRAM Endurance is a very solid filter, just check them louvers before using it.

These are new to me. I see they're rated at 94% efficiency @20µm. Lots of neat features.

while they’re still efficient, you aren’t really in the need for one. you’re still running a wet sump traditional LS oiling system. the endurance is definitely the way to go. or if you can go search AAP’s for OG wire backed media FS3675’s. take a bright flashlight with you and check down the center tubes.

Weren't the XG3675 Ultras also wire backed at one point? What was the difference between the OG Ultra and the OG Titanium?

Fe or boss if ya plan on a longer oci 10k+
Any of the others listed for 10k or less. This is assuming it’s a clean healthy running engine, would appear it most likely has been taken good care of.

Not too elevated. Specific output is about the same as a base '21Camry 2.5L 4 cyl family hauler which is 8-1/4 BHP per 100cc

The 5W30 Ravenol he is using has stout HTHS if it VMP or REP but he didn't say. Not showing his cards, LOL.

I'd run a 51042XP Wix on my car
