I'm needing brake rotors and pads for my '06 Sonata. I figure rotors from advance Auto, but pad choice: which ones would be a better choice of pads for general braking (read: not racing my car, but do have small hills and curves on my route)? Three I'm looking at are Akebono Ultra Premium Ceramic, Wagner Thermoquiet, and Beck/Arnley OE. Any input on these choices?

I've used the Wagner Thermoquiet a few times and have always been happy with them. Long life, quiet, good performance, work well when cold, low dust, etc. I have no experience with the others.

If you are satisfied with OE, then stay with OE.

Otherwise, look into Hawk HPS or StopTech 309. The aftermarket "normal replacement" stuff tends to be a hit or miss. If you go aftermarket, you are better off with a pad that is marketed to deliver upgraded stopping power or else you may end up with this super low dusting, long life pad that barely brings your car to a stop.

I just put Raybestos Professional Grade rotors and Pads on the front of the Montana. Stops great! Very little noise, which sounds like sandpaper on metal. Only with the windows down and right before you stop can you even hear it. Im fairly certain this is from the pattern they put onto the rotors which will disappear here shortly. Pads have FF DOT code, pretty good. Dont have a feel for dusting at the moment either as they are still running in.
