Since Purolator filter lost quality control and Fram I'm leary of I guess I'll try Bosch.Are they any good?I think they are made by Champion or Dreaded Purolator.I'm also trying Mahle filter.Joe

Bosch make their own filters, although there are licensing agreements in place in some countries to slap the Bosch name on any old can.

If you're trying Mahle you're already using one of the best available, stick with it!

It is my understanding that the Distance Plus has not fallen into the poor QC category. IIRC, there was one with a ripped ADBV a while back, it looked nothing like what we are seeing today. Definitely looked to be a single flaw rather than a trend.

Very $$$ though.

They were Champion Labs products something like 15 years ago. Purolator makes Bosch filters for the US market and have for a while now. Not sure about the rest of the world.

Workshop = old Purolator Classic, probably new no-name Purolator

Premium = media of silicone ADBV of Purolator PureOne, but rubber O ring and no grip paint

Long Life = old Purolator Synthetic, probably NOT the Purolator Boss

DistancePlus = its own product

So you MIGHT run into media issues with the Workshop and Premium because there hasn't been much evidence that Purolator has fixed the tearing problems yet. The Long Life and DistancePlus are solid products, though.

Mobil 1 or Fram Ultra filters for me. If you don't like Fram consider Mobil 1 filters.

You need to rethink your opinion of Fram.
The Ultra is a very good filter and only about 9 bucks.
This is less than the top Bosch filter.
If you don't believe me just do some research.

I really like the media better on the Ultra as opposed to M1.

Watch eBay regularly-I just scored a case of six XG2 Ultras for $24.99, free shipping, no tax-$4.165 each!

Good enough. Nobody can really say which filter is better as far as longevity. Even the worst filter will be find for hundreds of thousands of miles.
