8460 miles in service on a 2003 model 1MZ-FE, 300k. Oil was M1 10W-30 HM

This engine had lots of sludge due to neglect, we rehabbed as best we could it a while back but this filter was still nasty.

It did its job. I’ve used these almost exclusively for a couple years now, extremely satisfied with them for a ~$2 jobber filter, never had a documented failure.

That amount of sludge is amazing... But it is a testament to the build quality on such a filter for the price. I normally use bosch premiums, which are the one that is up from this one.
Thanks for the teardown and pictures.

Thank You for cut and post. Your cleanup regime is working ☮👍🇺🇸

Also, what oil and filter went back in and on? Thank You

I used M1 HM 10W-30 and a Bosch 72143WS. Same filter except a bit longer, they’re equivalent to the FL-910 and FL-400. The longer filter makes this one a bit easier to reach from the top because it’s right under the exhaust manifold.
