To be used in the BMW B48 Engine in a 2019 Mini Countryman John Cooper Works...anything about the chemistry of these two oils that would possibly cause issues when used as a mixture? Cannot find any BMW LL 04 oil, but, want the low SAPs and higher HTHS than the straight LL 17 FE+ 0W20. Thanks in advance.

Go to first Wal mart, which there are plenty of them in your area, and get Pennzoil Platinum Euro L 5W30.

This last change (at 12,000 miles) I used 3 quarts Mini 0w20 and 2.5 quarts Pennzoil Euro L 5w30. Might try to find Pennzoil Euro L 0w30 to use with the Mini 0w20 in the winter. Not that there would be a discernable difference. Changing every 5000 miles, I shouldn't have any oil-related issues with this engine while I own it.

I would use oil with MB229.52, VW504.00/507.00 and LL04. B48 had dome LSPI incidents mostly related to transmission programming in eco mode. Both MB229.52 and VW504.00/507.00 have LSPI test.

edyvw speaks truth.

If you can find it, Pennzoil Platinum Euro LX 0w30 is 229.52 and VW504/507 certified.

Why frankenbrew when you apparently have access to great oils?

I was on the fence about PP Euro L 5w30 or 0W30. If the 0W30 is better, I'll certainly switch to that next time.
Thanks for the comments!

It seems German car manufacturers are shifting to "0W-XX" oils to improve fuel economy. My B58 (3L, inline 6, turbo) gets 0w20 from the dealer. I'm shifting to 5w30 at the next oil change.

When I use up my last Mini 0W20 LL17 oil, I'll switch to Pennzoil Euro LX 0W30 from thereon out. I've read enough anecdotal information, and overlaid with a scintilla of science I've gleaned from several sites, I think that will serve my purposes great...and it's easy enough to find at local Walmart or where-ever.
