It's been a few years since I've ripped any CDs, but my go to was Exact Audio Copy (EAC).

I will stress a $25 CD drive is not worth saving $25-50$ extra on quality one that can read a disc 2-4x faster when 1000 cds are involved.

Got the old windows 7 laptop and fired her up. Got rid of everything on it that I didn't want or use. I have 90GB of photos on it. Ordered a 128GB thumb drive 2.0USB to transfer them to. I already have them on a 1TB external flash backup but you can never be too careful. Will delete the photos after saving to that thumb drive. This old laptop only transfers data through my wifi/1GB fiber at 60MB up and down. My desktop MAC gets about 600-700MB both ways and my deceased Lenovo desktop would exceed 1GB up and down. I am going to be limited mostly by the hard drive and USB transfer rates on that old HP i7 laptop. I am still kicking around just buying a new PC desktop and getting the best external optical drive for this chore. Thanks for all the good suggestions!

Just get Spotify. You're not going to listen to all of that music anyways.
