So my Saturn is in the Rinse Phase of an Auto-rx cleaning. It has about 1900 miles on it when I last drove it in the fall ~4mths ago. I'm now planning to drive it again and am going to go on a trip so I don't expect to be able to change it again until another 1500-2000 miles. That could put me close to 4000 miles on the Rinse. I used conventional GTX 10W30 for the rinse.

I was thinking maybe just change the filter and top up the oil or should I change it out and do two rinses back to back. Maybe should start the second clean as I'm going on the long trip?

Suggestions appreciated.
Thanks

I was faced with a very similar situation. I just drove it as much as I could before the trip and changed it a few hundred miles early. I'm running another application now though, since I feel kinda guilty for cutting it short the first time :)

I would have dumped the rinse oil prior to storage for the winter and had it set with fresh oil. But, not being the case, I would warm it and dump it and start fresh with a new filter also.

I asked that question before and there seemed to be no issues with parking the car for the winter and then continuing in the Spring. The oil actually looks to be pretty good on the dip stick, just a little bit tan colour.

I think I'll change it out anyway and start with fresh oil and a new filter before the trip.

Thanks
