Why? It might help if you can tell us what you are trying to do.

The OP is trying to determine base oil etc from spec sheets since we warned them of the pitfalls of hydraulic oils and attempted to educate them on frictional characteristics of TH oil verses Tyep F.

Actually no this isnt the case. I have talked with a lot of poeple who run hydraulic oil in their race transmissions. Some pushing 1800 HP supercharged engines. I have no concern using it. I chose not to get into a fruitless internet debate.

Thanks for the info on the MAG1

You're welcome.

FWIW, I formulate for the racing community using TH350's and Powerglides and they all use my synthetic Type F and have had many successful races with no fluid burning or degradation.

Ford Type F is used in racing modified PowerGlides and TurboHydro (TH350 and TH400) transmissions.

It was very common for Type F to be spec'd for power steering apps, long after Mercon went into the trannies. My older 1995 Villager was a perfect example.

Additionally, there are still plenty of older vehicles that spec Type F for the tranny; my stock 1966 C-4 Mustang is an example.

So technically there are still valid applications for "normal" use, as well at the speciality applications that Mola works on.
