Been thinking about snapping one up, as if I need another vehicle in my yard!!

I like the 4cyl. FWD version. Had a Jeep Grand W/4 wheel drive and seldom used it so I'll stick with 2WD. Less maintenace etc. with 2 WD too.

Any maintenance issues with current users?

One thing I don't like is the swinging rear door but I can live with it.

The location of the spare might get the wife in a bit of a tizz as it might obstruct rear window visibility a bit but I'll be the main driver and seldom use my inside mirror anyway.

Any and all comments appreciated.

TIA

I helped a female coworker buy a left over 2005. 2WD auto. I'm not sure they even make a standard anymore; she likes it. Problem with them is there is no rear bumper, you back into something and it is $$$$. I thought it was noisy (both the 2005 and new 2006 style) but for her it is a tool for carting kids around. She traded a Grand Caravan (which is the only GC I've ever heard of not needing a tranny; 135K miles)

The 2006's are much bigger inside (moving upscale), but there was no dealing on those.

No issues so far (about 1.5 years old, maybe 30K miles)

Are we talking used or new?

I don't have one but have been eyeing one as well. Never any used ones available either so that to me... spells reliability. For me it would have to be a black one. Not a hassle ordering one as Toyota offers only 3 different packages, pretty straightforward. I see you've seen snow before so the 4- wheel drive is always a nice thing. Good luck with your choice!

Prsonally, subjectively, without a whole lot of thought about it, I hereby proclaim that for what you pau you ain't getting a whole lot for yer' money with a RAV4.

Overpriced, yah' dig?

Besides, RAV4's are "chick cars."

Yep, last time I peeked more addle-minded emotion-laden logical thinking lacking babes bought the RAV4 than did hairy stinky dudes.

If you buy one, expect the BIG guys to point and snicker.

Hi simple, it would be a new one.

Looking at the 07s but might wait until the 8s are out for a couple months before buying. If I wait it'll be an 08 unless there's a big difference between them.

This would be a long-term buy if I did it. My Jeep was a 93 and I just got rid of it last year.

Just test drove a new 2007 AWD 4cyl with my dad. Dad is 74 & I didn't think he'd like a buzzy 4cyl after years of 6 & 8's. He loved it. It felt roomier on the inside than the Rendezvous, had more than adequate power and was very comfortable. The engine is buzzy as you would expect, but with decent power and smoothness, who cares? I told him he better get used to it with the price of gas! He wanted to trade his 2003 Buick Rendezvous for the Rav4. Unfortunately It didn't work out. The best they would do for a trade in on the Rondy was $7K. Their first offer was $5K

. On top of that, with the $7K 'allowance', He would have had to pay the ~$23500 sticker for the Rav4. They wouldn't wiggle any on sticker with that 'high' of a trade in value. We walked. He's keeping the Buick. IMO- the 2007's are nice roomy comfortable 5pass vehicles. ~$23500 is more than I would spend on a any vehicle, but for a brand new AWD, it's not bad per today's standards.
