Another problem with my Toyota.......

Mass produced laziness is why you have put up with problems! Just take a look around. If you have 10 people in a room how many actually give a sh*t at what is actually going on? Maybe 2. So that would be roughly 20%. You take 20% on a larger scale of 500 factory workers and thats 400 that will do just enough to get a paycheck and 100 that will try to do what you are supposed to do which is, DOING MORE THAN YOU ARE PAID FOR! A persons objective is exceed ones expectations anything less than is unexceptable. An individual should always strive to do their best at all times and remove, "good enough" and "thats acceptable" to the equation. It doesn't cost any more to do things the right way the first time. Let me repeat it again.....IT DOES NOT COST ANY MORE TO DO THINGS THE RIGHT WAY THE FIRST TIME!

Case in point. I hired 2 people this past week to help me with a simple project. Both men were in their mid to late 40. I paid one $12 an hour the other with more skill got $30+. I explained to both the objective and the time to accomplish such task. They were on their own to complete the task at hand and to utilize whatever means to get it done in a timely fashion. If there was a problem they were to call me. The lower paid gentleman overanalyzed specific task and took forever to do them whenever he wasn't doing that he was smoking a cigarette outside or complaining about how fast the 30+ guy was moving. The 30+ guy would disappear after he got a bulk of work done and the 12 guy would wonder were he was. In the end they both failed to complete the task. I went in and finished it up in less than 1.5 hours. In the end neither cared as long as they got their money.

We live in a "drive-thru" "remote control" society were the closest parking spot to the front door is the GOAL. What a shame!

Anyone who does more than they're getting paid for on a consistent basis ought to ask for a raise or find a better-paying job.

You don't expect a business to give their product away for free--why should you expect an employee to give their product (their labor) away for free?

All new cars suck. They are built with the lowest quality parts there is that will last through warranty period. Then I have to put up with all the morons who tell me the quality of new cars are so much better cause they don't know the difference between quality and technology.... My rant.sorry.

With all the car manufacturers racing to put the 5yr or 10yr 100K mi warranties on their vehicles, something tells me that they believe that their vehicles are better than the ones of yester years.

Of course it could be nothing more than marketing ploys.

Go easy on American workers and parts.

Remember that Japan's big three...Toyota, Honda, and Nissan build cars in the US AND all three are known for quality.

For the record, my US-built Accord had serious fit-and-finish quality issues, similar to what Amkeer is going through with his Toyota.

My US-built Stanza was generally OK, but it did need a new transmission at 120K miles.

I don't know about the new truck, but our older V6s had issues with the PSPump due to heat from the engine...or so I was told. The seals would go bad/dry up. I've had mine rebuilt twice but now I'm using Redline ATF4 and hopefully that will help keep it within a cooler range. No issues yet and the steering is smoother.

I see you've gotten the 2.7 4 banger. Wait until it gets to about, say 60-80,000 miles and the CSK starts! I have a 2002 DC which will turn 100,000 next month. No problems except the CSK. Don't know if I'll even carry it in for the "scratch on the ball joint recall," since most of the pictures of failures on the net are of tundras. Love my truck.

What is "CSK"?

"For the record, my US-built Accord had serious fit-and-finish quality issues"

I can see this. My car door rattles a bit. Interior is better than any domestic in it's class, and so is the engine, but cars all the same anymore....for the most part.

Well, my Japan built Highlander has had more fit and finish issues at 40k than my US built Camry at 170k.

so now we're tied....

Amkeer - It seems like the leaky power steering pump was a common problem I saw on the Toyota boards before I bought my 4Runner. One I looked at before I got mine had the problem with only 47K miles showing.

Rebuild kits are only like $25 although getting it fixed for free on warranty is the best way to go...

Wellchkaaaa, the dealership has arranged for me to come in Tuesday morning at 8 am to replace pump. They know that when I get there its to replace the part right away and no wait in line BS! I have a predetermined slot and they will have 2 hours to replace the part. Getting this part replaced in a timely fashion will directly effect how much BS they will get from me. If all goes well they will get Pepsi, Mountain Dew and I will be on my way at 10 am. If all doesn't go smoothly I will hammer them with a bunch of nickel and dime items and Toyota Corporate will get my call.

My waterpump leaked at 5,000 miles on my ranger. They replaced it.

I guess cause it's a Toyota...I guess I may feel the same...but tell them **** cause that makes you feel better.

I had my wheel alignment that went bad also and took it back to the dealer with-in the 12,000 mile warranty. Well I found out they wanted get cute cause it was worse than before so I took it to another Ford dealer to have it done properly. I called Ford in Mich and filed a complaint. When I was at the other dealer they called my original dealer to find out what happened.

There reply: The wheel alignment equiptment was broken and they tried their best. Pack of B***S.

My point is don't let them push you around!

mama,

I don't have time for them to push me around thats why I am up front with them in the beginning. I have a huge work load and very tight schedule. This is a nuisance that will cause me to lose time. Time is very hard to make up once lost. I have to be realistic too so we will see what happens.

One of my Favorites Trucks was also in the shop more then anything I have ever owned. My 2001 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab was int he shop at least 6 times inthe first 6 months I owned. It was probably in another 6-7 times int he next 6 months. It went through more then one set of evap hoses. It had to have the seat and seat belt anchor bolts replaced, the clock spring had to be checked, the computer needed to be reflashed, the door locks had a mind of their own. The ball joints needed replaceing, the front end had to be realigned twice and the ac/compressor went out all int he first 12 months. When you look at fact taht since 1971 we have only had to take a two Toyota's to the dealership ever under warranty or not that about says it all!

Every car company has some parts failures, assembly problems etc.... but some havemore then others!
