Third or Forth Time in the last year I believe. The Chief Executive and Founder of Amsoil states the price of Crude oil and Additives has forced them once again to raise prices.

I noticed that a huge campain for promoting the company has advanced around the country, as well as a huge expansion of the companys warehousing, storage tanks, and blending capacity is underway.

The CEO makes the statement that the additives and base oil are the best that can be bought, and the company will not compromise quality.

Will the company survive with yet another price increase in the current market or future markets?

No price increase here in Canada though

I personally don't care too much about the price of oil as long as they continue to try and make the best oils on the market. If I am "mail ordering" something, it should be better than a competitors product on the shelf at the retail level.

The XL line is fairly competitive with with anything found at Chinamart and if you take advantage of the extended drain intervals with ASL/ATM/TSO, it comes close to evening out.

Cars today are expensive. Forking out $30,000 for a sports car and then worrying about how much oil costs just seems silly to me.

Look at what lowering the quality has done for Mobil 1 on BITOG.

Hi Johnny.
Well after several visits to the hospital, 1 Ultra Sound, 2 Cat Scans,1 MRI, Hepititus B test, Liver Biopsy, and numorous blood tests..over the period of a month...loosing 20 lbs and changing eating habits and what I eat...I feel great. They did not find anything with all the tests by the way.

Now after a couple of months my tests show.

PSA test good, blood sugar normal, Thyroid normal,Colestoral normal, blood pressure 110 over 70.
Specialst figures it was the meds my Dr put me on for my acid reflux that caused my liver problems and jondised look.
I quit taking the pills after I went to the hospital for the first tests.
I quit drinking alcohol, even though all I ever drank was a couple of beers when BBQing. No more coffee, no pastries or cookies etc. Very rarely use salt. Drink lots of fruit juices, apple, cran berry, etc. and lots of water.
My only fetish is Frozen Yogurt type ice cream. Pecan carmel crunch.
Other than that no more eating late at night and that means a bag a chips and couple cans of pepsi.

Now if I could just loose another 10 to 15 lbs I would be even happier. Just don't want to loose it the way I did last time.

I had no energy...sleep from 8:00pm till 8:00am. Then do a little work in the shop and go back in the house for a nap. I was wore out all the time from this Liver problem.
Anyways I'm doing great and the shop is doing great.

Well it's nice to know you are doing okay. Can you tell us why Canada will not have price increase while Americans will have to put out more? I was gonna say Shell out more but this being an Amsoil thread...ya know!

The exchange rate between Canada and the U.S. has been closing.
We are at .95cents or so.
We are still about 25% higher at the wholesale/retail price than our U.S. counterparts.

Don, great news! I was wondering how you were doing after reading about your liver scare a few months ago. It sounds like taking care of yourself is the solution, which makes you indeed a very lucky man. Maybe the acid reflux problem will go away due to dietary changes.

Good to see you've found the problem. Meds can do different things to different people.
I always had in the back of my mind to order some of the 0w-20 from you, once I use up my stash. But if prices in Canada stay 25% higher than in the US, I might wait for my next visit to the US.

Actually they have held steady longer than I thought they would. It was November 2006 when the last price increase happened. I would expect about $.20 per quart if history shows through.

AMSOIL isn't the only company experiencing increased production/shipping costs. Most companies have been increasing prices at different intervals. Sign of the times right now. I don't think it will go on forever. At least I hope not!

When I became a Dealer in 1983 we were selling AME 15w40 Diesel & Marine Oil for $8.20 per quart. Recently a Dealer mentioned the price increases and I called him a big sissy!

It was worth more than 8 bucks a quart back in 1983 dollars and it certainly worth more than it costs now. Remember, the difference in price between any AMSOIL synthetic motor oil and conventional/synthetic of other brands is much closer than it has ever been. The price doesn't bother me a bit as a consumer or as a Dealer.

I just saw this thread, there is another in auto oils.

O2man is correct - your memory is faulty! Amsoil will have a slight price increase. First in a year. Amsoil is doing fine....expanding is not a sign of weakness, last time I checked. The marketing is on an even keel, with a good increase on race sponsorship.

Amsoil is very good now at listening to suggestions. I just sent a list in (abbreviated):

Quote:

At LEAST two true certified 2-stroke oils (for watercraft mainly)

Put ACD in quarts. (Lots of possible qt users)

Put ATD in quarts. (Lots of possible qt users)

Put "Honda....." on the MTF label. (Honda owners are BIG users of MTF)

Take "5w30" off the MTF label. (confuses the heck out of people)

Take "5w30" off the universal tractor fluid oil. Add "Type A" to the universal tractor fluid oil.

Make a truly robust 5W-40 oil, with a strong (non-low SAPS) additive package, to balance AFL and DEO which both have low SAPS add packs for specific emission uses.

Make a higher viscosity universal ATF (7.8 cSt @ 100°C or so) for high perf and older cars that don't want to use the Dex VI compatible thin universal ATF.

Develop and release an ATF that meets the new WS.

Make a lower viscosity, yet heavily additized (EP/AW) MTF for manual transmissions requiring ATF. (around 7.8 cSt @ 100°C or so). People really don't want to use ATF in their MT's, yet the step up to MTF (9.6 cSt @ 100°C or so) is a big high.

(some are repeats of individual suggestions earlier) I won't be the least bit surprised if one or two are used. Amsoil and the dealers HATE price increases, I suggest you can gripe, too. But the company is doing great.
