Always lots of interest in housing around here, so this crossed my feed. Says nothing about price, but seems listing volume is returning to pre-pandemic numbers in some of the hottest markets?

Reputable source?
Don't know this particular source. But the National Association of Realtors or whatever trade group has this info.
Seems pretty easy to come up with. Take the last five years active (or whatever period) listings (MLS) and compare them to current day. It's not rocket science.

Drat! There was no article to explain the methodology used in making the map.
Is the core comparison the number of homes offered for sale and/or sold at the beginning and end of a 5-year period? ...comparing two snap-shots?
What does Illinois' -69% mean? ?:1,000,000 homes marketed during 5/ '19 and only 310,000 were during 5/ '24?

I don't know. But this mirrors what GON has been telling us who is following markets all over the country.

I can't edit my initial post - too late, but here is the whole article.

I beleive its simply all MLS listings in May 2019 vs all MLS listings for May 2024.

I originally found it on X re-posted by Daniel DiMartino Booth. She is a former fed economist and makes a living selling data, so agree or disagree with her, I can't imagine she would re-post something that was not from a reliable source?
