Today I spent an abnormally long time at a grocery store during the time the Access Card (Welfare) system crashed in many states. I don't know what depressed me more....seeing the number of abandoned, full grocery carts left at the checkout counters when customers realized they wouldn't get free groceries OR the number of angry "customers" who realized their free ticket was taken away from them. Our society is doomed. The "able" cannot continue to carry the ever increasing number of "needy" in this country. This isn't meant to be political as this pattern has been going on for the last several administrations. I go to bed tonight with a heavy heart and deep concern for the future of my children.

Some of the people I see on the program don't look like they've missed many meals. I think the garbage foods should be eliminated from being included. Have them eat frozen bags of fruits and veggies and other healthy foods. If they feel good, look good they may get motivated and really apply themselves.

My favorite was being at Publix and a person asking the deli to cook fresh chicken tenders and then chilling them so they could buy them with their American flag Bank of America socialist card.

Obviously people who get laid off and can't find jobs should starve as a form of social Darwinist eugenics. All the better if their children starve too! Commie scum [censored]! Die!

Agree 10000%. All those programs should be temporary, 6 mo max. You need to either get employed or you get to work for the govt to earn your $$. There are plenty of bridges and roads that need repaired.

I don't mind recently unemployed individuals getting a helping hand to get over a bumpy part of their life....but sadly it is way beyond that. What is really sad is when I noticed several individuals that I know that HAVE full-time jobs running from the registers. I simply got in my 13 year old, paid off car and went home while they left in their cars which were significantly newer than mine.

Definitely drug testing every month.

No prepared food should be included, only things you MUST make yourself. Liquids restricted to milk, or apple juice.

After 5 months I would still allow them to receive this HOWEVER, they would be required to work in public service activities with a normal 8 hour a day 5 day a week schedule. Cleaning up trash off the side of the road, and the like.

All men and women receiving this for more than 5 months would be required to be permanently sterilized.

Im amzed at some of these posts. There are tons of people abusing the system and the system needs work. But the idea of making people get sterilized and all of this is ignorant and obsurd. There are some good people who just need the help. Young families trying to get an education, middle aged families who are going back to school after their jobs were sent overseas. Ect. Our political leaders have pushed all the industry out of the country and some of you want to blame the PEOPLE for needing help. Maybe if our country had pro growth and pro industry policies more people would have jobs to feed their families. Heck I bet alot of you were the same people bashing the people wanting higher wages in fast food. Let me see if I understand this. You dont want the corporation to pay them anymore and you dont want the govt to help and you dont want them in the back yard of your house year long hunting for food but you expect these people to eat? Interesting.

the logic is deeply flawed. The lazy people should be kicked off but not all the people who need help are lazy or anything else.

I don't think any fair minded person begrudges benefits to someone who's been laid off....It's those who have been on welfare seemingly forever (often times for generations) that many of us despise. They won't stop having babies as long as their 'benefits' keep rising.

If you lose your job and are year one into a six year car note, you're kinda stranded. Better to wait it out for the next job (usually) as paying something off when upside-down is a money loser.

But leaving food in carts to spoil is gauche. Are you in such an unemployed hurry that you can't put that food back?

'Cuz they're all just living it up. (insert apparently non-existent-on-this-forum eye-rolling emoticon here)

I saw this today at my favorite grocery store... Aldi. the 2 guys in front of me tried to pay with their link card. the cashier said the system was down. they were like " oh no problem" as if it was just gravy that they had the link card in the first place. keep it shut down

People should be prepared to ride out the bump ride under their own accord. It's sad that people of all income levels are living paycheck to paycheck. As my income rises I save more not spend more. Luxury and consumerism is a weakness.
