And other than a slight loss in fuel mileage (potentially), why not?
 
I see no good reason to use it and several reasons not to use it. More gear heat in the summer and much more drag in the PA winters + less fuel mileage. I would just get the correct weight & grade and sell the 140 wt.
 
Having owned and lived with 2 subies, I'd really stick with a 90 weight, and a syn at that. you can run it, but it's a thick, goopy fluid in a tight-tolerance gearset. will it harm it? probably not. will you feel it? likely? will you see a mpg drop? slight.
