A couple months ago I noticed that Advance Auto has changed their filter application for the 2017 Cruze with the 1.4 liter gas turbo engine. It formerly called for a CARQUEST 84060 or Purolator PL12222. Now it calls for the CARQUEST 95140 and Purolator PL11403. Anyone know why the change was made?

Probably a higher bypass setting that GM seems to be going to. Compare the bypass specs of the old vs new filter midels.

Yes, this is equivalent to the Fram 12060 which has the 19-25 psi bypass pressure. This was discussed at length during the past year on this forum. It was to catch up with Chevrolet's higher pressure oiling systems such as in the 2014 up LS 5,3 and 6.2 liter V-8's which went from a 40 psi system to an 80 psi system.
