This car is a rental while my fusion listed in the signature is in the body shop.... The guy behind me decided that driving by Brielle was a good idea.
My first impressions of the car are that it's very similar in size and handling to the fusion however I find the controls to be much more complicated and confusing. I'm sure it's just a matter of what one is used to but all the knobs seem to be put into weird difficult to access locations. Well both cars are four-cylinder the The fusion seems to have much more lower and grunt where the Camry seems to like to wind out a little bit higher in the RPMs the suspension in the Camry seems to do be stiffer than the fusion leading to a bit harsher ride quality I also am unable to obtain the same fuel mileage with the Camry and I am the fusion this could just be a matter of driving style that I've become accustomed to with the fusion and the differences in power bands. One key feature on the fusion that I missed that the Camry does not have is a little built in spotter mirrors on the side mirrors. Overall it seems to be well-made and a decent car. If I was ford though I would feel confident going into an unbiased head on head comparison.
I will be glad to get my fusion back for multiple reasons this whole thing has been more of a headache then it was definitely worth considering it wasn't my fault and for the record safe auto's customer service is terrible they wrote an appraisal on damage without even coming to look fat the vehicle just a few pictures that some lady came and took and of course their figures were nowhere close and plus they wanted to use aftermarket parts it took nearly a month and almost a court date after their adjuster told me if I want my car fixed to my standards to see them in court to finally get this settled and the car in the body shop for the record the state insurance boards in every state and their online complaint forms work wonders

No doubt the Fusion is a nice ride. We had a rental Fusion a while back and It felt like it was put together well, however the plastics inside though didnt impress me, nor did the fabric used for the seats. Cheap IMO, plus the transmission issues these things have would scare me off. Our rental already had a light flare between gears at 23K miles. I would take the Toyota if it was a choice between the two.

Now you know how I feel in a Fusion.

The turn signal stalk on the Fusion feels like it is at about the 11:00 position The Mazda's is more like 9:30. When I go to turn the headlights on the wipers come on. There is no wiper stalk. Feel around in the dark on the dashboard for the headlight switch. I still do not know how to use the single swipe "Mist" wiper setting on the Fusion. (push up on the Mazda stalk - down on the Chrysler) Forget about the rear wiper...again there is no stalk there to put it on anyway. The majority of the Fusions just have Park, Reverse, Neutral Drive and Low but not really Low and the steering wheel controls are backwards.

It is structurally the same car so you get the same seating position...same everything. Lulls you into a false sense of of familiarity. You go to turn the radio volume up and hit "RESUME" instead and the car starts to accelerate back up to freeway speed. And you will eventually forget that you have to press the button to shift out of Park. Darn selector will not move to the right.

I agree. Having driven both as rentals on more than one occassion each, I found the Camry smoother engine, but definitely stiffer suspension. I wasnt that impressed with the Fusion..but I guess I would have to drive a 2013 or 2014 to be fair.
