2007 Mazda CX7, 80k mile

I have been using Mobil 1 5w30 since new on my 07 Mazda CX 7, turbo 2.3 mzr at 5 k mile intervals. UOA has been generally satisfactory. At 50 K, high iron was noted, and Mazda dealer installed new vvt gear and timing chain. Are there any recommendations for a different viscosity or brand suited for the 4 season climate I drive in? How did they determine you needed a new vvt gear and timing chain?

There was a TSB on noisy chains, and dealer replaced under warranty.

I run 6K OCI in my 2007 CX7 and several UOAs turned out very good. I use PP 5w30 and OEM or WIX oil filters.

Wear metals would increase temporally from new parts I think it will eventually go down.

I think 5w30 synthetic will not be a problem.
