My daughter's 2013 Corolla has 197k miles on it. U341E trans with 19 pan bolts. We purchased it not too long ago. The transmission has never been touched. I want to drop the pan and change the filter.
I normally go OEM for trans filters when I change them, which is usually a few bucks more than aftermarket.
Imagine my surprise when I found out the filter only from Toyota is $100!
I checked AAP, Napa, and O-Reilly and they are all about $20 for a kit that includes the O-ring and pan gasket.
First, why such a huge price gap between the two?
Second, (and I may be dating myself here), but doesn't an OE quality trans filter always have "Filtran" stamped on it? Otherwise it is just junk made in China or Taiwan?
Is there a good quality aftermarket filter kit to be had for this vehicle? Are any of the Napa, etc. Filtran filters?
