ive posted about it before, my buddys vehicle, 89k miles. Consumes oil like crazy, checked it last night, there was a tiny dot on the end of the dipstick. ran fine, no knocking. changed it with 4.5 quarts Kendall semi syn 10W30 and a quart of Lucas syn stabilizer.I never use any Lucas products but at this point we don't know what to do to slow the consumption. should I step it up to T6 5W40?

The 3.5 is not a notorious oil burner or sludger. Something is mechanically WRONG with this one.

The Mucas might just make the problem worse, IMO. Has the PCV valve been changed?

STP would be a better option than Lucas if you do that again IMO, it's considerably cheaper and at least has some additives in it.

Thicker oil would be a better place to start though. Not sure a fully syn 5w40 is a very good investment in an oil gobbler, I'd suggest trying Maxlife 10w40 next time around.

3.5l are actually bad oil consumers. I think it's a poorly designed pcv system (speculation). The customers at our shop get 10w30 HDEO. It seems to hold on a bit better, but not by much. I think a 5w40 HDEO would be a great try. The ones that don't have problems with the 3.5 are the old guys that come in every 3k anyways. I think it has more to do with a light right foot though.
