Yes, I have never changed my oil before. I must have put it in up side down.

Don't believe that you installed it wrong. There is no right or wrong way. Like I said, when I first bought my 2007 Fusion I tried a M1 cartridge and it twisted. Then a Fram and it twisted. So I finally used the MC FL 2017B and from then on all has been well as my pictured showed even at 10K OCIs. You can order them from AZ or other parts suppliers.
 
The pleats still line up top to bottom so not twisting. Thousandths (mils) make a difference when positioning is critical, or entry into cap just right is critical. Maybe aftermarket copies the length of OE, or end cap diameter, but not well enough.
I wonder if bent pleats on any filter means they are stretched from original and the efficiency goes to pot. I guess the Purflux filters are bent but that's not what I mean, I mean pulled longer

that isn't true. I have posted other filters that were twisted but pleats at the top and bottom were still in line.
