I have thought about using it as an undercoating, but am concerned about if it eats rubber. Any experience?
Is bar and chain oil hard on rubber?

It is best to use a lanolin-based product. It is a proven rustproof undercoating and is known to be safe on rubber.
Ive been mixing bar and chain with fluid film to try and give it some more tackiness for a few years now. No adverse affects on anything underneath my vehicles that I have noticed.
