Clean Engine - Skyactiv 2.0 - 62k miles

My yearly engine cleaning. This engine stays relatively clean due to the splash guard underneath. My previous cars did not have that and it made a huge difference. I'll likely keep this car another 2-4 years or until it starts giving me trouble, then buy a Tacoma. The OCV remains dry after a valve cover replacement. I keep the engine cover off.

1. Simple Green HD - 2. Paint Brush - 3. Hose - 4. Electric leaf blower to dry - 5. Start car and take it on a drive - 6. Spray 303 and let it sit. 7. Stare at it like a weirdo.

Thanks. I cover the engine cover with a towel or trash bag so it never gets wet. I do that part by hand. I cover all sensors with aluminum foil or plastic bags.

That's pretty much the same routine I use. I keep the engine cover on though. I even have a blue top battery on mine although it's not a Bosch

I keep the cover on as well. I also use Gyeon Preserve which is a trim protectant on all the black plastic in the engine bay. Keeps it looking brand new.

That stuff looks very good.

I may put the engine cover back on. I got used to not having it on. When I had Mazda replace the OCV I was keeping an eye on it and I eventually got used to not having it on.

I like it. It leaves a matte finish and has SiO2 in it. The trim stays clean even in rain and such. It lasts a while too.

I love engine bay porn, but almost NEVER see it in real life. When you work at a shop, you don't get those kinds of vehicles. That is, unless I'm doing a used car inspection on an armor-all covered lot monster.

I don't personally detail my engines, but then again the cars I drive (Volt excluded) hardly warrant a car wash let alone an engine detail.

Reminds me of a guy I knew who used to post on Roadfly.com back in the early-mid 2000's. He always bought M3's and would detail the entire car ( including the suspension/undercarriage) just like this.
