    new tires daughter's car

Don’t get me wrong. You get an A+/just for posting. This is a tough crowd period! I’m sure your tires/price are competitive. I’m currently “running” Crossmax that cost me $50 apiece and $15 to mount and balance.

    new tires daughter's car

Whew, I was pulling for you Robert. Gotta study a bit harder before you post your next tire purchase. Arco asking for your daughter’s marital status with the “I don’t mean to pry” disclaimer was the ultimate test, kudos to you for not taking the bait. I was gonna give you a solid B but asking...

Oh boy, this might hurt a bit. Not for me but perhaps for you.

What is the single best vehicle to buy if you're a tightwad?

I’m joking a bit. Both my cars are properly maintained and reliable. My philosophy is if you have money to spend on cars that is your prerogative. If you are thrifty you spend as little as possible to ensure reliable transportation. If, however, you find yourself struggling with monthly car...

I have two. Whichever one starts is my favorite.

    We Bought a 2024 Odyssey

Family first. Any compromises take a back seat (pun intended) to providing responsibility for a growing family. Carry on.

Expensive Nissan CAFs vs. other brands

My 2012 Versa came new off the lot without a cabin filter. Found out why when I attempted to install one. Gave up, that was 12 years ago. Might try again someday.

Sump Pump in Basement Window Well

racer12306 I wish I was able to give you better info other than to search window well dewatering sites. Drainage systems for window wells are best when they’re installed and properly maintained from day one. I feel your anxiety, especially if your basement is finished. The Flotec pumps do the...

Sump Pump in Basement Window Well

They were small sump pumps similar to a size that you might use to drain water off of a pool cover. Brand name was Flotec I believe. They had a float switch that turned them on automatically. But useless in a power outage unless you had some sort of battery backup. Used to dread heavy rains.

Sump Pump in Basement Window Well

Ugh. Had that problem in my last house. Drainage systems in window wells were shot and I resorted to pumps like you described. All is well until the power goes out. Couldn’t wait to get rid of that basement . Someone described a basement as digging a well and then spending all your time trying...

Any Ham Radio Operators In BITOG?

Yes. Was a radioman in the USN circa 1970. Learned Morse like the back of my hand. Total immersion training, sink or swim. Still remember quite a bit.

2012 Nissan Versa door lock actuator

Still remember the haggling when I bought that car. We fought over the floor mat charge ($170) for a few minutes and the salesman said “ Lemme talk to the manager.” When he came back he says “ The manager said he was out in the lot and saw you getting off the bus! That’ll be $170 for the mats.”...

2012 Nissan Versa door lock actuator

Thanks gentlemen. I appreciate your insights and this forum. My skills and life expectancy are limited so here’s my Rube Goldberg. The Versa is my beater, back and forth to my crossing guard gig. Sole driver 99% of the time. The defective actuator is drivers side rear. Only grinds on locking...

2012 Nissan Versa door lock actuator

Tks. Sounds like they’re not too expensive. But with my limited mechanical skills installation could take weeks of hard work. Then there are 3 others with similar cycles probably on their last legs. Trying to convince myself that locking your car is overrated .
