What powers the ac compressor on an electric vehicle?

They just use an electric motor to run the compressor much like your home AC.

How far would you drive on a gamble for a used car?

It entirely depends on the vehicle in question… for example I ain’t driving more than 30 minutes to look at something like a Camry or Civic. I’d drive 4-5 hours for a clean v8 Dodge Magnum though.

How is my smart phone able to talk to my F350 20 miles away, without the F350 having a paid cell service?

Uconnect Access, I would only activate mine for 3-4 months because Chicago winters suck. Otherwise yeah… definitely not worth it.

    Meijer Went Full On Purolator

My local Meijer recently just got a bunch of purolator filters as well. The Fram CAF for my truck was $18, Purolator was $30.

    Drone Engines

That I’m not sure on, I just typed “50hp aircraft engine” into DuckDuckGo and that was one of the first images.

    Drone Engines

That’s a picture of a Limbach engine, out of Germany. It’s a 2 stroke air cooled engine that runs on 90 octane and 50:1 synthetic 2 stroke oil. This link will bring you to the data sheet for that engine, it’s not an actual download. https://limflug.de/downloads/datasheets/L550-EF-datasheet-en.pdf

    We Bought a 2024 Odyssey

What is the single best vehicle to buy if you're a tightwad?

Minivan or pick up truck. Yeah you’re trading some fuel economy off but in return you gain a metric crap ton of utility and ease of use with either option. “Just get a small trailer and pull it behind this little car when you need it!” Great, now I have another thing I have to pay to register...

Ever had a engine or Transmission failure?

1995 Toyota Camry with the 4 cylinder. Temperature gauge went from normal to absolutely buried in the red almost immediately followed by a near complete lack of compression.

The dangers of a long beard.

As a machinist, especially a lathe machinist, being around anything that’s exposed and spinning instantly puts my brain into “work mode” and I start rolling up my sleeves, tucking away/removing hoodie strings, etc. But my beard makes me look like Great Value Luke Combs, even have the same...

Rental Review - 2024 Jeep Wagoneer Series II - 3.0 liter Twin Turbo w/ 420 hp.

They look better in person than they do in photos, but I’m really digging the white. All the ones I’ve seen are black or gray.

    st with mos2 or pup

Ditch the additive and either of those oil choices will be more than adequate assuming you’re not beating on the car to within an inch of its life.

    Ecosmart Dimmable LED bulbs

Yep. Once swapped out a bunch of incandescent bulbs for dimmable LED’s. They did not like the dimmer and would flicker/strobe even on max brightness. New dimmer fixed it.

    Oil is Oil

Oil is oil like work boots are work boots. I will never wear another pair of thorogood boots, but other people swear by them. Just because I don’t like it doesn’t make them bad, they’re just bad for me 🤷🏻‍♂️

What stupid brake part costs twice as much on a old Nissan Leaf as it does on a Mercedes s-class?

Yep… for example Mopar will happily sell you some $50-$80 windshield nozzles…. Sold individually of course.
