    3,000 Mile Oil Change

I go about 4000 - 4500 on my Kia. It's a Theta II, so I keep it on the shorter side. I sure hope that's doing something for me. :)

    Your favorite jobber oil filters?

I've been using jobber filters for the 35 years I've been driving, and I generally keep my cars for a dozen or more years, and 200k+ miles. I get rid of them when the rest of the car is rusting away around a perfectly fine engine. So I ask the question... How is using a jobber filter wrong?

    Your favorite jobber oil filters?

All the cars in my signature are running Champs... Except the Volvo. It's got an EcoGard, but I can't remember why.

Sleep schedule differences between you and significant other.

My wife heads to bed at 9:37 as reliably as a German train schedule. She gets up around 6. I, on the other hand, try to be in bed by 11, and get up at 4:30. Weekends are similar... We both sleep a little later than weekdays, but I'm still up and at 'em 90 minutes or so before her. I guess...

Safety violation does not end well, towing a camper

Very gentle taps on the trailer brakes only. And immediatly... It can get out of control very quickly, as you see in the video. And yes, once control is regained, SLOW DOWN!

I pulled mine out of storage on Monday to get a jump on the spring maintenance. And it snowed last night. 😖

Buying things that will last you the rest of your life.

In 2017 I put a steel roof on the cottage. That should last the rest of my life. It will certainly last long enough to be my kids' problem next time. :)

Using those big 2.5 Gallon jugs of Delvac

I've been using the 12 quart bag-in-box oil lately. I just pour it into a 5qt jug and 1qt bottle I saved, and carry those out from the garage to the vehicle.

    Glutton for punishment day.

Can you renew the Ontario license and Outdoor Card on line? I usually buy the 3 year license to minimize trips into town, but renewing on-line before I even go to the cottage would be ideal!

    Help fixing bike please

In my experience, the bearings don't have play, but they start to grind and there is a bit of resistance. I agree with TCL that you should inspect the bottom bracket (frame) for damage. But pulling and replacing the bearing cartridge couldn't really be any easier once you figure it out.

I use an old tub of wheel bearing grease when I reassemble my bike after cleaning. MUCH less expensive than the bike-specific grease.

    Real world pickup fuel mileage?

The Sierra in my signature (2wd) will get around 20mpg in town, and regularly 24.5 to 25 mph on the highway around 65mph. Towed my 5000 lb boat from Cincinnati to Rochester a few years ago at about 70mph average, and got 17 mpg on that trip. I thought that was pretty fantastic.

Walmart In-Store deals! $32 for 12 quarts of SuperTech Full Synthetic! $39 for 12 quarts Valvoline Advanced!

I save a 5qt jug and a 1qt bottle to measure and transfer to the vehicle. And I put the used oil into empty washer fluid jugs to take to my mechanic's furnace.
