Pretty lucky here in the Nashville area. Been able to ride to work off and on all winter. Don't ride in the winter rain but going to work when it is in the mid 30s is a piece of cake these days. 30 mile each way commute. Lots easier on gas than my F-150.

If you will look I think the Rotella 15w40 is wet clutch rated so everything should be fine even though it does not carry the JASO spec. I was using it in my V-Star 1100 without issues.

You may look at O'Reilley Auto Parts if you have one nearby. They carry Mystik 15w50 synthetic blend which is rated SL for gas engines and CF thru CI4 plus if I remember and may be JASO rated as well but not sure. I personally took mine to the dealer to do the 600 miles service when I had my 05 V-Star 1100. Just to make sure they had a record that the valves were checked etc. Afterward I used regular 15w40 Rotella and the bike seemed to do well. Had zero issues in 10,000 miles. There is a good V-Star 1100...

My vote would be to stay with the Motorcraft you are currently. Silicon ADBV. Threaded end bypass per Ford specs. Good filter. Good price.
