Why three decimal points on gasoline pumps

In the 1960's, the gas pumps had 'rolling' geared numbers. As long as the 'next' number did NOT reach the arrow, you went with the lower cost. They were simpler times.

    60 Minutes Nvidia AI segment

I have been watching videos (Youtube) of Ameca and another called Sophia. It is really quite amazing. Sophia is scheduled to give a graduation speech at a college of my home town. Once the students found out, they started complaining. Now there will be two commencement speakers. One human and...

    Double headed penny?

In this day and age, it has to be fake. As mk378 said, the stamping machines are designed to prevent errors. But, I once had a nickel that kept being rejected at all the self-checkouts in stores. I thought nothing of it. One day I tossed some coins on the kitchen table and this nickel sounded...

    New grease gun: possible contamination?

I switched greases in my grease gun (went to Red-N-Tacky). The easiest thing to do was dissemble the gun and degrease all the parts.

How to prevent bugs sticking to windshield?

OP - I have no bug removal advise. But, check your radiator to see if it's loading up with bugs. I bought a long-extended nozzle that you attach to a garden hose. Slip it in on back side of radiator and flush towards the front grill.

Clogged condensation drain on hybrid water heater.

Checking the condensation/drain hose on my furnace is part of my yearly PM. I know this is your water heater, but same principal. ► Check your 'owner's manual' to see if installer did his job correctly and anything the homeowner should do. ► Is there a place for the water to drain to ? My...

    Ever eat possum?

NO on the possum. When I was in high school, another student in class said he went camping and killed a woodpecker. They cooked it and he said it tasted terrible. Everybody in class laughed.

    SQUIRREL Double back Fiasco

For a while, I lived in a small rural town with a lot of trees and squirrels. While walking to work, I would see some squirrels walking on top of the power lines. When they would get to a pole, they'd make a left or right turn and keep going. It was their highway system.

    Laundry detergent and product tampering?

Whenever I take an item off the shelf at Walmart, or any other store, I compare it to similar items. Oil - Stand two bottles next to each other and check for color, and volume. Mouthwash - check the safety seal and don't buy 'dented' bottles. Boxed items, check for factory tape (if there is...

Article from Forbes discussion on USD collapse

I agree. But on the TV commercials, Chuck Woolery compares gold to CASH (sitting in a safe). Just that there shows me the commercial is trying to mislead people. For the average person, Vanguards Index 500 is the way to go.

    Unique Mahle filter construction

Looks like for some reason the 'base' is a two-piece construction. And that's the way the manufacturer decided to connect the two pieces.

School me on pepper spray, gel, foam, etc. Bonus point points for actual experience on dogs.

"A can of hornet / jellow jacket spray is just as effective. Sprays very far too." "WRONG" is correct. .... And to clarify why - Spraying someone with a spray not intended for humans could be against the law, especially if they lose their eyesight. I would just hate to have to explain it in...

School me on pepper spray, gel, foam, etc. Bonus point points for actual experience on dogs.

I believe you get a better aim if you use your thumb, NOT your forefinger to apply the spray. I carry pepper spray all the time (I watch the evening news). I have never used it, but I like the 'gel' more than the atomizing spray. Out in public .... I carry Mace 2.8 ounce container. While at home...

    ZAMAK and galvanic corrosion

I'm no expert, but for galvanic corrosion to occur, you need three things: 1) two different metals 2) they have to be touching 3) they have to get wet There is a galvanic corrosion chart that shows all the various metals and how compatible they are with each other...

    Brake fluid change topic

If you can do the work yourself, buy a quart of BF for <$10.00 and have the satisfaction of knowing you have ALL clean BF. I do mine every two years. If you need to pay someone to do this work, read your owner's manual (maybe doing every three years).
