    First HPL order arrived!

Complete useless post, just wanted to share my excitement in receiving my first ever order from HPL: 6 quarts of 75w90 cold climate that should be enough for 2 changes in my Regal's transmission, and a quart of the 30 weight engine cleaner. That'll be going in after I get the timing chain...

Not a great conversation with my local Infiniti dealer today. Least they were honest.

eBay If you want to give reman a try, here's one for under $600. Even cheaper... There's another one if you're REALLY feeling frisky!

    Tax prep woes ...

I used a CPA for the first time this year. Between switching jobs, moving to a different state, cashing out some 401k funds etc. I didn't want to screw things up. Worked out OK for me: $348 owed to the feds, $18 owed to the state of WI, $346 refund from the state of MN. Just about as close to...

What are you working on today?

Noticed the battery terminals on our Kia were getting a little crusty, and once I peeked at the date code I knew why: C4! Napa Legend battery, so that should be March 2014. Unreal battery life for the Midwest. Quick hop to Walmart and she now has a shiny new Everstart Max with cleaned and sealed...

John Deere LVA16054 hydro filter, 1025R

You're doing hydro service exactly the way we recommend at my dealer. 50 hours first, then every 200 after that on the 1025's. I know the fill cap/specs call for low-vis in the 1025, but we use the regular Hy-Gard. The only thing we use the low-vis in is residential mowers.

    Strongest fuel cleaner

That gen Nissan ANYTHING will need injectors at this point. Those side-feed units weren't great back then, and they're probably just about used up at this point.

What are you working on today?

Just finished installing new tunes in our '06 Spectra. The original speakers were either dead (rear deck) or completely shot (front doors), so it got 2 pair of Infinity REF-6532ex's. I needed shallow speakers due to clearance issues on this application, and these fit the bill perfectly both in...

2012 Regal GS under valve cover... plus bad news

Sorry, that's going in the trans as part of this whole maintenance bundle it's getting right now. A bundle that got a lot more expensive now 🙄

2012 Regal GS under valve cover... plus bad news

I actually just placed an order with HPL for 6 quarts of their 75w90, and threw in a quart of their engine cleaner for giggles. I only have ~3k miles on the current Castrol/Ultra combo, so maybe once it's down a quart I'll fill it with the HPL and run it for another 3k. That, and a beautiful...

2012 Regal GS under valve cover... plus bad news

I'm the 3rd owner, the 2nd owner only put around 3k miles on it so all those deposits are from the first owner. Right now it's got Castrol Euro Car 5w-30 in it with a Fram Ultra filter. I have no history earlier than that, unfortunately. I will say, the engine is silent at idle even now, aside...

2012 Regal GS under valve cover... plus bad news

My Regal needs the vacuum pump replaced to cure an oil leak, so I decided to pull the valve cover and do an inspection. Boy am I glad I did: Look at that slop! I'm sure it's original @ 120k, so off to ZZP I go to order a complete timing set including their upgraded timing guides and bolts...

Walmart DeIcer washer fluid 1.50 /gallon

They didn't have any of the ST purple, but I snagged 4x of the brand name with "Rain-X" for $2.50/ea. That'll keep our 3 vehicles stocked through the summer.

    2024 Altima S vs 2024 Malibu LS

Minus the genius headlight design that requires the entire front fascia AND the headlight assembly be removed before any of the bulbs can be serviced. I despised doing those jobs at work. Getting the bumper to line back up on reassembly SUCKED!

Wireless small engine tachometer I picked one of these up to use on the mowers at work and it's been great

    PureFlow versus wix

I went out of my way to purchase a PureFlow for my Regal after being impressed with the quality of the one I installed in our Spectra. Not the Hepa, just the regular PureFlow.

What are you working on today?

Beautiful car. If you're planning on actually enjoying it and driving it regularly, you might be better off looking into an EFI kit. They're very cost effective and you'll never have to fiddle with a carb again.

    IBX “By Interstate” ? What’s IBX? BJ’s

Sounds a lot like the "Manufactured exclusively for John Deere" stickers on some of the engines in our mowers. Highly unlikely that B&S has a special assembly line JUST for JD's engines vs. everyone else's, but putting a green sticker on one makes people think they're getting something special.
