    Building A Home Server

If you are looking at adding storage, check out Unraid. I'm running Pihole and Wireguard, and a Minecraft server for my kids. It works well, and the support community is good.

    Outdoor AC condenser - tilted

Yeah - I think this is the plan. I am over-thinking it. Thanks for talking me down out of the tree guys.

    Credit Card Issue

Some banks forward "subscriptions" to future cards as a convenience to users. Great, unless the card is stolen. The bank can shut this link from the stolen card - but you may have to ask. Also - a newish scam is for the bad actor to load stolen card info into a digital wallet (Apple or...

    Outdoor AC condenser - tilted

Yeah - I gotta fix it, but just can't figure out how to do it. Off to youtube probably while I wait for another quote. It's on a concrete pad (like a big paver). I can't figure out how to get under and lift. The pad doesn't look that thick - and I could see me breaking it, or the refrigerant...

    Outdoor AC condenser - tilted

I called them - quoted $625 to level it out plus the "dispatch" charge for today. It's about an inch to the left. As Lubener point out above it is starting to pull on the refrigerant lines, so I probably need to do something before summer. I have to check the paperwork - they said it's a one...

    Outdoor AC condenser - tilted

About a 2 years ago, I had a new furnace and outdoor unit installed. The outdoor unit is now out of level. (The new unit is larger than the old, so they laid down runner/crusher type stone underneath.) Is 2 years too long for this to be handled at no cost to me, or a discounted price? (This...

Need a tire rec - 09 Honda CRV

Yes - I had the bracket installed under recall. There is some underbody rust, but not all that much. I have also driven many cars equipped with Plus Pop - not intentionally. There is a touch of rust starting on the back tailgate. Not visible yet, but slowly progressing. This made me laugh -...

Need a tire rec - 09 Honda CRV

Thanks all. I think I'm going to call my local dealer and see what a Road Force balance will run me. They have decent prices on parts, and I need to make a parts run anyway. Last question - anyone have experience with Walmart doing TPMS replacements? The batteries on the senders have been...

Need a tire rec - 09 Honda CRV

Thanks. Not sure who around here has a machine, other than a dealer. When I lived in DC, crazy Pat Goss used to scream about how great Road Force Balancing was. (He had a call radio show that was a trip, where he plugged his shop constantly). Long break in won't work unfortunately - this...

Need a tire rec - 09 Honda CRV

Huh - probably user error on my part. I'm basically in Harrisburg 17025. I'll check again. Still seeing over $140. I guess I didn't realize prices flexed by region.

Need a tire rec - 09 Honda CRV

Thanks everybody - all good comments. Current tires are Nokian Entyre C/S (225/65R17). They have felt out of balance since new, and are loud, even though it's not a truck tire. I replaced all four struts - and it got worse. (Now crappy tires, with cheap struts). A CRV isn't exactly a 911...

Need a tire rec - 09 Honda CRV

Anyone recommend a good mid-range tire a Honda grocery getter? Currently running Nokian's which are worse than OEM Goodyear trash GM used in the early 90's. I'm only only looking to keep this about another year (2 max). I don't want to spend Michelin money - but want something quiet, and...

Spray foam insulation - PA installer

I had a heat pump installed a few years back and it made a big difference, but the floor is still cold in January / Feb.

Spray foam insulation - PA installer

Quick pic of what I'm talking about. (Not to scale obviously).

Spray foam insulation - PA installer

Yeah - I had read that some installers could botch the mix, and that it off-gases while it cures. (I watch a bit of Mike Holmes, and it seems popular in Canada). That was the reason I held off the first time - plus is was cold, and the contractor fit me in. Now I am facing having to reopen the...

Spray foam insulation - PA installer

Sorry what's SPF kit? (My google searches return sunscreen). Last time I tried to build a foam "cover" for my attic access it was a disaster. The adhesive I used wouldn't stick, and ended up using metal duct work tape. (I later learned that using the wrong glue could melt the foam). It was a...

Spray foam insulation - PA installer

Thanks - I think you hit the problem. I had rockwool installed in the garage ceiling a few years back. It's didn't make much of a difference unfortunately. I was thinking spray foam to seal the knee wall and overhang, but wanted to talk to someone before I wasted a bunch more money.

Spray foam insulation - PA installer

yeah - good point, I don't think any plumbing or additional outlets would be needed, but you never know I guess. I think I would only need the ceiling of the garage done. I would probably ask them to quote the attic too.

Spray foam insulation - PA installer

Random ask - anyone in central PA have experience with installing spray foam? Freezing in my office again (sits over a garage) - so I'm on the hunt for an installer.
