    Delo 400?

Not sure about new Delo, but in the past I've used it in Japanese bikes with excellent results, no problems.

    What are your "budget oils"

Chevron Supreme or Havoline Supreme (they may be the exact same oil, not 100% sure). Always cheap and never let me down. Shell would be my second option.

Anyone Using Shell Spirax Multi for T-IV/3309

Update: I've got two drain fills of Shell Spirax S5 in the Toyota Highlander in lieu of T-IV, seems to shift and accelerate better. I've never experienced a noticeable improvement in trans. when changing fluids but this time is a little different.

    Kendall GT-1 (w/titanium?) 20w-50 for airheads

When I read online or talk to folks in person about the best oils for BMW airhead motorcycles, I never see the Kendall products mentioned. I always thought Kendall was a nasty sludge maker like Penz and Quaker, but I know that was the bad old days and all brand name oils are way past that. Also...

How to check Toyota transmission fluid (?)

I always tended to overfill a little on Hondas to be safe, never had a problem. Several mechanics, including a top tranny specialist, has told me that it won't hurt a thing, worst case scenario is overflow mess out of the vent (which never happened to me as far as I know). Are Toyota/Aisin...

How to check Toyota transmission fluid (?)

Thank you for that info., good stuff. I did check it running when it was good and hot, and the level was just over the full mark in the cold range, so that means I need to get it up into the hot range. Guess I'll start with .5 quart.

How to check Toyota transmission fluid (?)

When I check cold with engine off, the level is a little above the full mark on the top set of marks. The top range is marked "Hot" and the bottom range marked "Cold". That makes sense, since hot fluid expands, but why is it when I check hot the level is in the cold range of the stick, and when...

How to check Toyota transmission fluid (?)

I drained the transmission, got 3 quarts out, put 3 quarts in. I checked the dipstick with the engine hot and running. There are two sets of hash marks on the dipstick, and my level is just above the top mark of the lower set of marks. So I have questions: Why are there two sets of marks? Hot...

How to check Toyota transmission fluid (?)

Thanks for that info. Almost moved to Columbus one time for a job with the power district, didn't happen but I like the place.

How to check Toyota transmission fluid (?)

I have a 2006 Highlander base 2.4 with Aisin transmission. What is the best way to check the fluid? (hot/cold, running/not running?) The manual is silent on this, and I'm new to Toyota.

Anyone Using Shell Spirax Multi for T-IV/3309

I was wondering if the Spirax and the Pennzoil are the same fluid, but I checked and according to the MSDS, the Pennz contains the following: 2. COMPOSITION/INFORM ATION ON INGREDIENTS Highly refined mineral oils and additives. The highly refined mineral oil contains % (w/w) DMSO-extract...

Anyone Using Shell Spirax Multi for T-IV/3309

Case of 12 is 45 plus tax. MSDS lists synthetic and hydrotreated base oils. I like that the specs are very close to Mobil 3309 and it satisfies Dex III.

Anyone Using Shell Spirax Multi for T-IV/3309

Turns out that the local Shell jobber does have the Spirax ATF in stock. I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with it, or is it too new?

Anyone Using Shell Spirax Multi for T-IV/3309

Thanks for that, I may try it in my classic BMW airhead motorcycles, that's the only place I use gear oil, GL5.

Anyone Using Shell Spirax Multi for T-IV/3309

I just became aware of this product. Meets 3309 and Dex III, and the numbers are very close to Mobil 3309. Can this be had at a US Shell jobber?

    Chevron Lubricants Q&A May 2016 - Answers

I had called Chevron about five years ago with a few questions, actually spoke to an engineer, and to my recollection he implied that they were the same and just marketed under Havoline in the East and Chevron Supreme in the West.

    Chevron Lubricants Q&A May 2016 - Answers

I didn't see the answer about Chevron Supreme and Havoline motor oil being the same product in different packaging.

Do you have a fave Motorcycle Oil?

I just became aware of Mobil 1 10W-60, may be a good option for looser air cooled engines like my airheads.

Toyota Power Steering Fluid vs. Dex III

My 2006 Highlander says use Dexron III on the power steering cap, but of course that is an obsolete fluid so I found it strange. I called the dealership and they said use Toyota Power Steering fluid that they sell in the parts dept. I can't find any evidence of this product on the web. Does it...

Do you have a fave Motorcycle Oil?

I use 15W-50 synthetic in my air-cooled BMW's (Mobil or Valvoline/NAPA usually) with great results. Some say you need the ZDDP additives to keep you camshaft and lifters happy, but I haven't experienced a problem. In water cooled wet clutch bikes I've used Rotella and Chevron Delo with zero...
