    Buzzing oil filter housing!

The oil test port is here: In red. Not sure if this is before or after the filter, looks probably before as oil will flow inwards from the outside of the filter media. Ill pull the filter again tomorrow and take a good look down the housing neck to make sure there isnt a stray o-ring stuck...

    Buzzing oil filter housing!

Luckily this car is "dumb" A non variable oil pump and no oil pressure sensor in the system (which is stupid imo). Just went out to satisfy my curiosity. 2 bar at idle @60 deg oil temp. So pressure isnt the problem.

    Buzzing oil filter housing!

I think it may be bypass valve related but struggling to find its location on the parts catalogue. Sorry, forgot to mention, new MB filter and O rings installed with no change. I think next step is to measure the oil pressure....

    Buzzing oil filter housing!

Hi all Odd one on my V12 Mercedes. The oil filter housing has started buzzing randomly at idle. The noise is quite loud. Can be heard at 30 seconds on the attached video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5u3kvaY_9k Oil is Shell Helix Ultra L 5W-40 and is approximately 500 miles old.

    Frozen "coolant" advice

I put a new headgasket on it and fired it up. Ran fine! Did some compression readings, 450/470/460 psi!! Seems as though its currently ok, so I am going to run it for a while and see what happens. I have bought a spare so if worst comes to worst....

Thanks for the quick replies! Yes the second picture is the one I am worried about. That mark is opposite the core plug that popped out. Rubbing it with clean oil does not change its appearance. I cannot feel the mark at all. This engine is designed to have liners replace, so I suppose I...

    Frozen "coolant" advice

Hi all I have a Kubota D722 that was supplied with water in the cooling system rather than coolant! The engine sat on its delivery pallet for a year and we had cold weather (-6 deg c) for a month or so. I believe the engine was only half full of water but it still did some damage. It popped...

Ahh I see. Yes, I think the silicone reading is from contaminants due to the airbox. Thanks, I will do another one in 10k miles time.
