Tire Pressure....how much is too much?

Don't exceed what's on the tire. The door jamb of my car says 32 psi but the the tires have 35 psi (recommended cold) 40 psi (max cold) molded in the sidewall. I go with the tire manufacturer because Dodge isn't going to know what tires are on my car and only give a general rating. I run 40 psi...

    Walmart +m1 synthetic

It's $20 for the jug of 5W-30 up here. Looks like they're getting rid of it to stock the 7500 stuff in its place on the shelves.

13,000 miles on cheap dino !!!

I typically go 10k to 12k between changes in my 99 Stratus with a 2.4l. Of course it is using about a quart every 5k to 6k and I top it off at that point so I'm not really killing it. I always changed it at 7.5k (based on the manual, not on the dealer and their "recommended or void the warranty"...

141,000 Miles and Still has OEM Drums and Shoes and PCV

I finally replaced the rear shoes on my 99 Stratus yesterday at ~137K miles. They probably needed it but they weren't too bad yet. The reason I replaced them is my passenger side wheel bearing decided to try to catch on fire on my way home from work. It caused enough heat to melt all the rubber...

Optima or Di hard gold battery

Just about any lead acid battery will be ok. How the battery performs is based more on how it is used than how it is made. Many short discharges and charges (typical short trips to the store or work) are bad for any normal battery. It builds up the sulfates on the face of the plates which cause...

All I could think of was Chevy Chase in Vacation

I'd recommend removing all sharp objects from their reach also. My two kids (10 and 13) can handle multiple day trips ok but are itching to just get away from each other at the end.

How can different oils make a bike shift bad?

I have also used the Yamalube 20W-40 in my motorcycles for a long time. It's hard to describe but even though the shifting is harder (takes a tiny little bit more effort) it is smoother than with other oils. It's a feel thing but I definately noticed it.

    Laptop transportation

I have one of those old Tandy units. It's only a bit larger than the Gateway I'm using right now. The operating system is on a floppy and it has no hard drive. Makes a great simple typewriter for the kids and they can tell their friends they have a laptop. If you're concerned about your hard...

Why do people act surprised when they do something stupid and it doesn't work out?

brianl703: "My brother has reported seeing two cars driving side-by-side very slowly in a 45MPH zone with the drivers talking it up." I just got caught behind two carloads of pantloads doing that yesterday! Best I could figure out was they were exchanging cel numbers and not caring that there...

Advice on pulling a fuse to disable DRLs

Turning your headlights on when your wipers are on has been a law in CT for as long as I've lived here also. Personally I find it annoying to turn my lights on during one of our frequent 2 minute sprinkles that only dampen your windshield but the ticket is quite expensive. Though DRL may help...
