Ever had a engine or Transmission failure?

My wife’s cars have never had a problem as she rarely takes them over 100k, except for her 2003 Yukon Denali XL which went to 168k flawless miles before trading it it. My vehicles never had engine or transmission problems and I usually take them to 150k+. The only component I’ve ever had...

Bimmer owners - Any decent used model?

How are the most recent 2.0 turbo twin power 4 cylinder engines holding up? Seems every auto manufacturer has a 2liter turbo engine now a days and most seem to do pretty well. VW for instance has the EA888 gen4 and besides the water pump/ thermostat the are reliable.

    Opinion on Honda's 1.5 L turbo

I have a 2016 Civic Coupe with the 1.5T I have 126k miles on it and it doesn’t use oil though I do see some fuel dilution during the winter. They are very picky when it comes to spark plugs, which is the only thing I’ve had to change besides oil and filters

    Anyone still into MLB?

I love baseball. Cincinnati is my team. Looks as though we didn’t spend any money on pitching again this year.

    Are Hyundais reliable?

Yes PM is where it’s at. When I traded the A4 in on the cross sport @97k miles the timing chains were in great shape as verified with obdeleven. I changed the pcv/oil separator out at 70k miles as PM to protect the rear main seal and the top end was spotless

    Are Hyundais reliable?

As an avid VW and Jeep owner H/K is a bridge to far for me lol. That being said I have never had problems with my VW or Jeep and have taken many to 150+ miles with bitog level maintenance lol. I think that is where many average H/K owners drop the ball and run them in the ground.

    2024 VW Atlas SE W/Tech

Beautiful suv. I had a 2020 cross sport VR6 and loved it. Wife kept complaining about how wide it was and seeing over the hood. Tbh it is a big vehicle and has a lot of interior space. The second row seats are excellent for third row access. My dealer was very reasonable on the price of both...

Two Thirds Of New Cars Will Be Electric/Hybrids by 2032

Give me a plug in hybrid with a solid 50mile electric range and a peppy ice engine and I’d be totally happy. Someone needs to come up with a solution to fuel dilution. Need some type of a way to remove fuel from the oil whether it be a catalyst, filter or some other kind of magic to keep the...

Harbor Freight... American Made, Lifetime Warranty

I’m retired and just putter around now so HF tools fit my use case quite well in most cases. As for country of origin the US is pretty independent when it comes to international trade. Net exporter of food and energy and items that are on the high end of the value added chain. The United States...

Wet Dual Clutch Transmission, long-term reliability (particularly Hyundai - Kia)

Yeah I always noticed a bit more than the recommended amount for the six speed coming out lol. In fact the first couple times I changed the fluid in a six speed I double checked that the recommended amount was enough by seeing if any fluid made its way over the standpipe. Some did but not a lot...

Wet Dual Clutch Transmission, long-term reliability (particularly Hyundai - Kia)

I’ve had several VW/Audi DSG transmissions and have never had any issues with them. Maintenance is every 40k and not all that involved. The six speeds I’ve had were easy to change the fluid and filter on. Take filter off (have to remove the battery as the filter is top mounted) go underneath and...

    Need a VAG scan tool

I have the obdeleven and am happy with it. I’ve used it to retract the rear brakes, used it to measure DSG fluid temperature and empty the pressure on the DSG pressure accumulator and calibration of the clutch packs on my seven speed DSG transmission while doing fluid changes a few times, change...

    Annoying neighbor

I had a next door neighbor who was a total pain. Behind our houses is a hill that my children used to sleigh ride down and she would loudly complain about the noise interfering with her afternoon napping. She said something that had my ten year old daughter in tears and I went over and told her...
