    Best Generator for the money?

I'm doing very well with a Generac GP 5500. One very important thing to remember with generators is that you have to work them out. Run it at least one time a month for 30-45 minutes. Make sure you run it with a load as well.

Mower Decision: Toro Super Recycler vs Honda HRX

I had the Toro Super Recycler and loved the personal pace on it. The personal pace worked very well, it was very responsive at copying my speed and felt like I didn't have to do anything to move it. The briggs engine only lasted 3 years because of an idiot I lent it to who didn't know what he...

    New STP 5-in-1 Engine Treatment

Has anyone used or did an analysis on the new STP 5-in-1 Engine Treatment. It says it has anti-wear additives and is based on a premium synthetic oil (whatever that means). I looked at the site and can't find anything that lists what's in it. Even the sds doesn't give any specifics other than...

    Oil for 2010 Accord

Thanks guys. Sounds like a synthetic 0w-20, 5w-20, or even 5w-30 from any major brand or Napa (thanks slacktide) will do. gregk24: Thankfully, I don't think my engine has that problem yet. The level has been consistent since I had it and the dealer has never commented that the oil was low. Is...

    Oil for 2010 Accord

I've been getting my oil changed at the Honda dealer for the past couple of years because I was leasing my Hondas. However, after returning my last lease in 2013, we decided to buy a used 2010 Accord that had just come off lease (still leasing our Odyssey). I had a couple of "free" oil changes...

Finding Local Top Tier Gas with App

Hi all. Long time lurker with not too many posts. I really appreciate this site! Anyway, I was using my GasBuddy app (Android) the other day and just realized that the app will tell you which stations near you use Top Tier gas. It will display the Top Tier emblem on the right of the station's...

What fuel additives do you use for ethanol?

I use Stabil 360' Protection for my generator. I wanted to try the ethanol free gas you can buy at Home Depot for my Honda lawnmower. It's called TruFuel. A little expensive, but I figured I would try it on the mower since it takes so little gas. So far, it's been running great.

Post your latest small engine oil change

Just changed my Generac GP 5500 Generator from M1 5-30 to M1 TDT 5w-40. I really like this oil. Engine seems to run a little smoother and just a tad quieter. Gonna run this for a little while. Also changed the factory sparkplug to an NGK equivalent. My Toro recycler mower got a change from last...

Generac GP5500 air filter cross reference

Hey guys, My generator came shipped with a foam air filter from the factory. I am looking to change it to a paper filter since I've always trusted paper more vs foam. (Maybe I'm wrong?) Anyway, the air filter part number is 0G8442015 as per the manual (they even call it a paper filter)...

    Oil for Generac GP5500

Awesome guys. I use stabil immediately when filling up as fuel stabilizer. I also use their ethanol shield. I have 2 Eagle 5 gal metal tanks (love them) and a plastic Briggs 6 gal. I always rotate the gas.

    Oil for Generac GP5500

Thanks for the responses so far. My generator does not have a filter, it's a 389cc motor that only uses splash lube. The genny only has 23 hrs on it. I used valvoline synpower 5-30 for 3 hrs and I did not like the way it looked after 3hrs of whole house duty. It was pretty dark with a cloudiness...

    Oil for Generac GP5500

Hi all...new to the forum. I never realized how much there is to learn about oil, but I am having fun. I've been looking around the site for information about the best oil for my generator, which has splash lubrication. So far I used the SAE30 oil that came with the generator for about 20hrs...
