Is battery life shortened by driving once/week?

Will a 12 volt battery in an ICE vehicle last longer or shorter if it's driven once a week, each trip being 24 miles (12 miles each way)? On my two vehicles I occasionally throw on the trickle charger and it indicates both batteries are always fully charged despite being driven very little (2k...

Brakes bled with Motive Power Bleeder - so nice!

This was the second time using the Motive Power Bleeder on my SRX. Again, I have to say, it's sooooo much easier/faster than having someone pump the brake pedal a zillion times. The Motive is worth every penny! The old fluid was 3 yrs old and looked decent for it's age. I pushed 48 oz of fresh...

Oil inlet hole difference between Honda and Wix

The number and diameter of the oil inlet holes makes it look like the Honda factory filter (A93021) will flow way more oil then the NAPA Gold 7356 I just installed. The Honda filter is on the left. 2020 Honda Accord 1.5/CVT. Thoughts?

How do I burp the cooling system on '15 GM V6

2015 Cadillac SRX (3.6 V6) Time for the first Dex-Cool drain 'n fill. I looked for a burp valve/tube but did not see one. Any tips to purge the air after I pour in fresh coolant? This vehicle has a pressurized overflow as seen behind the battery.

CVT idling in Neutral - bad?

I have a 2020 Accord and was wondering if it would damage the CVT trans to leave it neutral when stopped at a light. Why? I don't like to hold brake pads against hot rotors. I know, I can throw it in park but was just wondering about neutral.

Tire purchase at Walmart - great price, poor service

I recently purchased a set of General Grabber (235/65-18) tires at Walmart on line. Price was reduced from $140 a piece to $100, so the usual long wait for install/balance was worth it. What upset me was when I saw the tire tech brushing anti-seize lube on my clean/rust free wheel studs. I...

New Motive Power Bleeder - awesome!

I bought a Motive Power Bleeder (for GM) and have to say it's great, worth every cent. Makes bleeding brakes a fast one man job. The 2 qts of DOT 3 I pushed through would have taken a l-o-n-g time with a helper pushing down the brake pedal. This was truly a timesaver. I used Prestone high temp...

    ACDelco PF63E vs Supertech equivalent

I was inspecting them at Walmart and these two ecore filters from Champion labs look and feel identical. Anyone know if there is a difference? Filter media perhaps? The Supertech is about $3.00 and the ACDelco PF63E is $7.57.

Bleeding brake calipers - fluid flow?

On a typical single piston caliper the bleed valve usually is located at the top of the caliper near the brake hose attachment point. When bleeding brakes does the brake fluid flow from the hose connection right to the bleed valve leaving the majority of old fluid sitting in the caliper? I...

'06 Trailblazer - coolant bleed valve?

Does the 6 cyl engine have a bleed valve to purge air when the coolant is replaced? My buddy can't find the owner's manual and just did a "drain 'n fill" with fresh Prestone (All Makes All Models).

CVT reliability - how long do they last?

I keep hearing horror stories about the longevity of CVT trannies. Are any of them known for going 100K+ before needing a rebuild? A friend is considering purchasing a new '09 Nissan Murano.

Gas filter/mesh screen - where to buy?

You know that fine mesh screen that is on the base of a gas can's spout? Well, the mesh on my 2.5 gal can is torn and I'd like to replace it or come up with sort of way to filter the gas that will end up in my mowers. Any ideas?

Bleeding clutch on 2006 Mustang GT - easy?

I haven't seen one up close but know it's a hydraulic throwout bearing. I'm used to bleeding traditional clutches with a slave cylinder but not the type on the 2005+ 'Stang GT. How do you do it? Can it be easily reached?

Stabil needed with Amsoil Saber 100:1?

I use Amsoil Saber 100:1 2 stroke oil in my blower and weed wacker which I'm about to store for the winter. I think I recall seeing some 2 stroke oils (Sears syn?) claiming that they had a preservative in them. Is this true for Amsoil's Saber? FYI - I think it's pretty cool that this stuff...

2" (core) perfomance muffler - do any sound good ?

Most axle back and/or cat back systems for 4 cyl cars (e.g. Honda Accord) come with 2.25" mufflers. I'd like to replace the 2" OEM muffler with an 2" aftermarket performance muffler to have a nice sporty sound and no interior resonance. Has anyone had experience with a 2" performance muffler...

What should I use to clean ring and pinion?

Back in the 80's and 90's when I had RWD cars I'd drop the diff cover, let the old gear oil drain out then I'd spray the the ring and pinion with carb cleaner 'till it was spotless. I'd then let any remaining residue evaporate before bolting on the cover and refilling with fresh 80W90. A...
