Magazine's prediction on prices from 30 years ago appear to be off (tongue in cheek)

Have your bankruptcy attorney post an update when your experiment is complete, since you won’t be able to afford internet access… 😱

    High Performance Lubricants PCMO Series

Have you looked into a Stahlbus/Valvomax drain plug? I went with a Stahlbus and am thrilled with it both for ease of drain & in-service samples, but I know @Trav is a Valvomax fan and I can’t knock that if it’s on his short list of good drains. 👍🏻

What’s your vehicle & use case? Sump size has a huge impact on OCIs… how many quarts does yours hold?

Straight 30 or 15W40 for hard use air cooled small engine?

I went with the HPL 5w40 CK4 cold climate so it’s got an HDEO add pack, a PAO base oil, and the typical HPL top treat of all the good stuff! Both my generator and pressure washer call for 30 grades but Dave mentioned there’s not a much better/safer way to approach these small engines than with...

What is the best Dex 6?

HPL Green CC ATF is recommended for Mercon ULV/Dex VI even though Teal is technically the “correct” fluid. You said you wanted the “best”! 😎

    2014 Subaru Outback, 6MT with 150K miles - opinions?

My brother lives in Powhatan and is a mechanic & state inspector. If you’re not comfortable looking for all the concern areas (esp w/a salvage title) on Subies, shoot me a PM, I can probably have him look it over for you. Personally, $6.5k with a salvage title and a decade old leaves a bit of...

    3k vs 5k Synthetic OCI

Absolutely not. Pull some in-service samples at your target mileage, then make a decision based on data, not a guess or from emotions. Whether it’s fuel %, insolubles, soot, viscosity, or TBN/TAN, at least the decision will have a bit of actual reasoning behind the decision to dump the oil. I’m...

    Bad News For Rivian

All arbitrarily arrived at, Without real data to back up the hysteria. But I completely support catalytic converters because they make exhaust less noxious. You mean time to short it? 🤣

    Bad News For Rivian

People resist being forced to change. If there are positives (“WIIFM??”) they are more likely. Give them some input into the change process, and most people can’t wait to get on that change wagon.

    Bad News For Rivian

The difference between all of your examples and EVs is that nobody FORCED the consumer to buy computers, or internet access, or cell phones. That means they became ubiquitous because people WANTED those items due to their convenience factor. At nearly every turn, there is a clear INconvenience...

    Bad News For Rivian

And, China is building multiple coal plants every single week in order to have a grid that could support it. It’s hardly a “green” solution, but it certainly does offer near-complete control of all vehicles dependent on the charging system…

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum vs Valvoline Extended Protection?

There’s no downside to running HM oils from brand new. MolaKule had a few entries a couple years ago explaining the main differences between “regular” & HM oils, and stated pretty clearly you could run HM oil from the minute you drive a new vehicle off the lot. Manufacturers certainly could...

    Current Xw20's

TGMO has never been the cream of the crop. It’s so loaded with VIIs with very thin base oils and low HTHS to achieve a very high viscosity index, that volatility suffers, along with the risk of mechanical shear. There’s numerous better 0w20 oils than TGMO, including several on the shelf at WM...

    High Detergents/TBN for shorter oci's

So HKs are the only engine that suffers fuel dilution and combustion soot? Interesting. One would think HK would have copied a more successful engine instead. 🤷

    The problems with GDI

I wonder on V or straight engines if you could pull the plug, rotate the engine to TDC so both valves are closed, and pour Berryman’s B-12 into the intake port and let it sit overnight? This should dissolve the goo and carbon, and then rotate it over a few times with the plug out so you don’t...
