End of an era, it was a good ride. Hopefully they do find something to do together. Honestly, there was discussion of retiring after a few more seasons going about the internets. But practically forcing it was the problem.

I'm back, but not with my Mitsubishi Eclipse

Coil pack was bad, and one oxygen sensor had a busted wire. mechanic replaced both left bank sensors and i put on the new coil pack, and new plug wires. 310 bucks for the labor on the plugs and sensors. Not too bad. The coil pack is a duralast, anyone got any complaints about theirs? I got what...

    Those with older model Taurus's

On the taurus forums they say just run green coolant and back flush it every 30k. The 1996-2007 Taurus has a flaw in the cooling system, the heater core is at the lowest point of the system so it gets all the gunk stuck in it. The Duratec does not get these issues.

The process is the galvanic response of a cast iron engine to the formulation of the coolant. Basically it reacts weird to the additives. 30k with green is what people do, problem is most of these cars were never given a coolant service ever.

I think I am done with dealer oil changes

I took a friend's car I was borrowing to Sears to get an oil change, he told me just to use the oil he had in the trunk (Valvoline Max Life and a FL820S MC). It was part of the deal for me to borrow the car for a few weeks. Sears only charged me 10 dollars for the service, performed an alignment...

I think I am done with dealer oil changes

I would give them the benefit of the doubt on this one. View it as getting a quick flush of your oil pan thanks to having it changed twice in quick succession.

Was Fram ever really that bad?

I use Motorcraft filters mostly due to them costing about the same as a Fram or Purolator. I was sold on the whole "Fram has cardboard/fiber so it is bad" mentality until this thread. Now I can actually appreciate their design, how it actually does make some sense to do it their way, but the...
