I received an email reply to my second online inquiry to AMSOil (four days later): Hmmph. That's not very satisfying, esp. references to "weight".

I found a better reference for the quantity needed: 8 quarts, per the 1973 Ford Truck Shop Manual, pg. 16-40-07:
