Thanks for the suggestions. I've seen multiple recommendations for the Permatex. I didn't know about the o-ring making kits. That looks so useful I'll probably get one of those even if I try to seal the gasket I have.

I haven't seen the car yet. I'm heading out this afternoon to do so. The pattern is : 1-3-5 2-4-6-R Reverse also doesn't work.

I'm looking @ a 2006 TSX w/ manual 6-speed. It won't shift into 2nd, 4th, or 6th, but will into 1st, 3rd & 5th, and runs fine otherwise. Is this likely a shifter cable adjustment or replacement issue, or anything else not actually in the transmission?

I'm going to get some new clamps, pull it back off, check the bevel orientation, and put it back on with the proper amount of grease. Getting the clamps will be the delay. None of the dealers have them in stock, and the local parts stores closed before I got to them yesterday.

Thanks for the tip. I just ordered the Motion Pro Cable Luber V3. What lube would be recommended for a potentially teflon lined cable? I understand some lubes will cause more problems with binding with a lined cable.

I finally got back to the starter. There were no shorts in the armature. I cleaned the commutator and swapped the brushes from the bad ebay starter into the OEM starter and it turned over as it should. We'll see how long the cheap brushes hold up, but at least I'll know where to look if this...
