    Raced 94 Corvette LT1-RedLine 20w-50 2400 miles

The epilogue; at a little over 83,000 miles at Thunderhill raceway, the old warrior massively overheated. Subsequent teardown indicates that the failure was that the sprocket gear teeth(I think they're powder metallurgy)which drive the water pump stripped off, spewing metal throughout the...

how many miles on your euro-sled

195k miles on my wife's 2000 Mercedes C280(V6)on Amsoil Euro 5W-40. I change oil when the indicator tells me to, around 11-12K miles. I don't add any oil between services! Still runs strong. By the way, I recycle the oil by pouring it in my oil burning 196K mile Saturn SL!

Mostly burns it, it consumes almost a 1/2 quart per track event; it leaks a little as well.

Worst oil you ever tried or used?

Way back when, I had a 1970 AMC Javelin with a 304. Even though oil was about 30 cents a quart at the time, the oil consumption on this car was incredible for a high school student like myself. I needed to save my money for more important things like beer and p$t I just dumped ANY type of oil...

    Street/Track Corvette LS7 - New Motor !

Hey DH. Here is my 2 cents worth. Increasing the ZDDP and Moly content that Redline offers is a step in the right direction. Both function as a boundry layer lubricant and in a 7000 RPM 427 V8 used on a racing track thats going to come in handy. Whether that will provide any lubrication at the...

    saturn motor oil question

If your Saturn is anything like mine and burning through a quart every 500 miles; just start topping if off with 10w-30 as the weather gets colder. It should make very little difference either way.
