Coming from the Porsche world where there are lot of negative views regarding M1, I'm using Castrol 0W-40 in my Benz. Both M1 and Castrol are inexpensive at Walmart.

LM MOS2 stopped the tappet noise in my 1992 Mercedes.

Short drives without the oil temp staying hot long enough to get rid of the condensation is the culprit. With this kind of driving, one should change oil yearly.

Joe Gibbs DT 40 (5W-40). Developed for water cooled Porsche flat 6 motors due to the higher temps that these motors develop and consequently beak down conventional oils. Porsche gurus recommend it.

Just got my order of Castrol Titanium Euro 5W-40 from Walmart. Container states "made in Germany". But it also states "not for sale outside of the Americas". This tell me it's not a real synthetic but formulated from group 111 base. Not that this is an issue for me.

why did you switch to 0W-40? I also have an ST and considered using 5W-40 or 0W-40 but stay with Ford's recommendation of 5W-30.

LM MOS2 quieted start up valve clatter in my old Mercedes with hydraulic lifters.

I regularly drive a 400 mile round trip down the Central Valley in Ca. in my well maintained 1992 Mercedes 190E 2.6. I would consistently get 24mpg trip after trip. After adding LM MOS2, I consistently get 26mpg. Anecdotal I know, but I'm a believer.
