    Thickener in Super Lube?

Any idea on what thickener they use in super lube? It's not listed anywhere on their site.

    Silicone oil?

I noticed that silicone oils is recommended when rubber contact is possible. I also noticed that when mixed surfaces such as metal on plastic silicone is recommended due to the plastic safe nature of it. after trying it on my bike jockey pullies I noticed that it seems a lot slipperier than the...

Brake hum when backing up after a rain storm

Will lubrication along the brake pad shoe rails solve an issue with the brake pads humming when being applied and backing up after a rain storm? (The brakes quiet back down after driving a short distance going forward)

    Rubber plastisizers in Canada?

I'm looking for a product that can condition and protect rubber keeping it supple (automotive application). Currently I'm using kleen flo: Honey-goo holistic rubber care. Looking at the MSDS I can't really tell if it contains plastisizers or not. I hear mention that ATP-205 is good for...

Does Super Lube Oil make Good Electric Motor Oil

Super Lube Mutli Purpose Oil comes in ISO 100-150. It seems like this is a good viscosity for my application of sinthered bronze bearings. Not sure if the suspended PTFE is going to cause problems any one have any experience using this as sinthered bronze sleeve bearing lube?

    Bike chains

I've actually started using mineral spirits and a chain cleaning gadget with good luck lately. Just be careful mineral spirits is a pretty strong degreaser so there will probably be a puddle of black oil when you're done. It will however get all the old oil and dirt out of your chain...

    Free wheel oil

Not a free hub an old school freewheel. They call for medium weight oil. But what does that mean? SAE20 ? Gear OIL 75W90 ? 75W140 ? 85W140 ? Currently running the heaviest 85W140 and t seems fine only drawback seems to be that it's way more silent than all the other bikes so people don't...

    Lucas Red "N" Tacky

My tube of red N tacky sitting on the shelf always leaves an oil ring on the table after a week so it does indeed separate.

    Grease

I'm using Mobil Polyrex EM for ball bearings everything else either Parktool Polylube or Superlube recently been switching more to superlube as it seems to stay cleaner longer. Polyrex EM seems to be a smoother rolling than polylube and stays put longer than superlube. But it's not really rated...

Lucas Xtra vs #2 Red N' Tacky

So it's finally the season I regreased my bike hub with the polyrex EM first I cleaned out as much of the Lucas Red N Tacky #2 as I could. I didn't expect to be able to feel a difference but I'm pretty sure it's noticeable the polyrex is a lot smoother and even though it's not EP I swear it...

Lucas Xtra vs #2 Red N' Tacky

I wonder if Polyrex EM is food safe apparently they make a Polyrex SHC which is food safe but this stuff doesn't have the info. The MSDS says there should not be first aid required if it's ingested so potentionally that means non toxic.

Lucas Xtra vs #2 Red N' Tacky

Well now that my tube of Polyrex EM has arrived I have a few observations. 1. It does not have a distinct odor in fact it's mostly odorless. 2. The oil doesn't separate like lucas red and tacky does over time. 3. The texture about as creamy as lucas red n tacky without the smell in high speed...

Lucas Xtra vs #2 Red N' Tacky

To clarify I'd imagine they have some sliding element capability but are probably not EP. I guess I can always continue using the red n tacky on sliding elements or occilating elements. And keep the polyrex for ball bearings. I can't imagine the ball bearings in my idler pully are any different...

Lucas Xtra vs #2 Red N' Tacky

Ok well after hearing the opinions from you guys here I'm going to go grab a tube of Mobil Polyrex EM for my ball bearing applications and probably other applications since I'd imagine it's high quality enough for most of my bearing repack applications. I wonder if Polyrex EM is good enough for...

Lucas Xtra vs #2 Red N' Tacky

I haven't tried Lucas Xtra I noticed it was polyurea vs Red N' Tacky which is lithium complex. I know both will probably work for bearing applications but I'm wondering what the differences are going with the different chemistries. There are 2 applications I would like to use them on: 1. The...
