    Pickup truck recommendations?

Go for the gusto, and get a full size truck. With the v-6 engines and just as good mileage, you are money ahead and the additional room and comfort cannot be beat. If you are really stuck on a compact...go with the Toyota, as it is true, that they last quite well, and are reliable unlike some...

How many of you use Rock Auto?

I use them it seems like 2-3 times a month. Found almost everything but oil, and grease there. Those things I am a cheapskate on, and go to Walmart ! LOL ! Great prices on hard to find oil filters for my Cummins, and even for my Kubota !!

    Crazy Rotella T5 question

I use "Rosmella" in both my Kubota, and in my Dodge/Cummins 3500 pickup. Yeah, it does have a very distinct odor, but has always given me good OCI reports, and good UOA reports. I do live in the desert southwest, and we need to use good oils, as they get so polluted with silicon, and are...

Fram Extra Guard Air Filter OK?

Unless you have a turbo diesel.....in which case they will fold up and suck into the intake. with the possibility of a ruined engine. Still not as bad as the K&N oil soaked [censored].

    Fram Tough Guard Air Filters

Fram is probably fine for your use. If you had a turbo diesel engine, it would be the LAST filter you would want, as the turbo would suck the filter into little bits and swallow them with MAJOR repercussions!

    FilterMinders-Are they worth using?

I sure do pay attention to the "Filter Minder", as where I live,(high desert of Calif), we have an enormous amount of fine powdery dust, and even a lot of fine blow sand. Since my 2005 Ram 3500 has a turbo diesel, it does use an enormous amount of air, and I want that air CLEAN, as a new engine...

Armstrong to NASA: You are an embarassment

Folks should remember that the shuttles were and ARE, very OLD! Much of their technology is 1960's era, and having worked on both building the original ones, and helping to keep them flying and repaired, I worked at NASA's facility at Edwards AFB, for many years, and watched the shuttles be...

"New" Diesel Genset, Old Factory Fill

I too would change out both the fuel filters, and the coolant. We had a genset at NASA that sat for over five years, and only got 15 minutes of run a month to insure it would start and run if needed. The radiator never got hot enough to move the crud from the bottom of the radiator, and when we...

    Ranger diesel

As everyone else is saying, we need a small diesel pickup! Something on the lines of a Ranger or even a ( Shudder!), Toy truck. My friend had to wait for 6 months to get a diesel Jeep Liberty a couple of years ago, and the only other diesel small vehicle seems to be the BMW,MB or the VW tdi. In...

They built them, and no one came...

There is way too many pages to read them all, but I have to exclaim...my Dodge 1 ton, 3500 ram gets a great 21mpg on the highway. With 4 BIG doors, lots of creature comfort, enough power to tow 20,000 lbs, and take my Kids, and Grand Kids camping, and to 4-H, Western Pleasure shows, FFA, and...

    First Battery Swap Station

Just for my edification, what is the range of these "speed bumps"? Where I live it would be a 54 mile round trip to go to the closest market, another 6 miles to get to where you could get a prescription filled, or shop at a "Big Box" store. In between is a lot of empty desert and agricultural...

CBO: tax per mile = good

This may be a bit off topic, BUT....... At least in Calif., the taxes are set at a percent of the sale, and then the sales tax 9.75% in my county, local tax, .8%, and road tax, .85% are added in. So, it seems that government has no incentive to lower the tax bite, as the MORE gas costs, the...

    Gas Bandit Blocker

All my trucks are diesel, and you would not guess how many times I have come out to the truck, and found a hose and can still there, with puke all over the ground! Guess diesel tastes bad! ( No I don't have any experience with that!.LOL!)

Be sure to use your parking brake!

Can you say behind on the payments, or the mileage is way over, and the lease is up!

    Kreen Update

Has anyone tried this in a hpcr diesel? I wonder what if anything bad might happen to a high pressure system. Also since a diesel atomizes the fuel at extreme high pressure, would the engine have a sudden preignition problem? I do know that my Cummins has a problem, as most diesels do, with...

Why is diesel more than gas here in America?

I noticed that Kalifornia is third highest in the nation. At .65 a gallon, that means that the fuel SHOULD be only $4.10 a gallon. STILL way to high!!

Diesel Fuel Additive shows 5%+ Fuel Savings

http://www.johnfjensen.com/Diesel_fuel_additive_test.pdf Look up some very interesting data on here. Some of the most popular additives are really just alcohol and solvent. Even used motor oil is mentioned.

    Kroger possibly meets Top Tier?

As they used to say on "Laugh in", Verrrry interesting. Since I use almost exclusively Shell diesel, I wonder about that too. Steve
