    Replacement PCM

Are you saying that you've only used OEM parts, or are you saying that you have recently dropped your car off at FordTechmakuloco's shop to be worked on? If that's the case, then good call.

Traded in the Sonata for a Malibu. Dealership issue.

I have decades of experience dealing with GM and Ford products, and my experiences with them have lead me to never buy one ever again. 1979 Pontiac Bonneville with the Buick 350 V-8 had the entire valvetrain just noisy as heck when the car got fully warmed up. Quiet when cold, but when warmed...

Do you have a dream car today, on 12/4/23?

I've owned my Dream Car for almost 9 years now. In February 2015, I walked into a Porsche dealer in Denver with a copy of my preferred build in hand, and placed my custom order for my 2015 Cayman. She was delivered in June, and here I am, nearly 9 years later, with 65k miles on the odometer...

    Replacement PCM

The parts that you have thrown at it so far... Are they OEM, or aftermarket Amazon / eBay specials? I can't tell you how many issues are caused by mixing aftermarket parts into an ignition system.

Effect of cruising RPM on wear?

4 year old thread. You got all the answers you needed 4 years ago. In a 100k mile lifespan, for 2 vehicles traveling at 60 mph constantly, on a long trip, say from Denver to Saint Louis, maintained perfectly, no design flaws, there won't be any difference in the condition of either engine.

Oil change after sitting for 2 years

Where was it sitting? Parked outside in Coastal Maine, or in a garage in Phoenix?

    2024 Mazda CX5 W/O Cylinder Deactivation

How about taking the car for a test drive in the very stretch of road you are concerned with?

Fiat 1.4 T-Jet engine oil overfill

1.5 miles isn't going to do any damage to the Fiat Turbo 1.4 engine. When my wife bought her 2012 Abarth, included was the Trackday Experience that came with it. One of the things they went over was that overfilling the engine by half a quart is helpful to prevent cavitation in high speed...

    Dealers and Warranty Work

Here's the thing no one has mentioned yet: The dealer tech has to take a pay cut to work on your car that's under warranty. Lets say that he normally gets paid $30 per hour on Customer Pays work. And let's say that its an actual involved issue, like replacing the lifters on a Dodge Ram or a...

How many miles do you get before you have trouble passing emissions?

A vehicle that is just a few years old, with low mileage, shouldn't have a CEL on, for any reason. If it does, you bought a pile of crap. In my garage is a 12 year old Fiat 500 Abarth, with 45k miles. More than a few years old, with low mileage. Do you know how many times the MIL has been on? 0...

Long drive to pick up parts as cheap as possible.

I have long distance delivered a couple of motorcycle engines. Ninja 250 engine from NYC to Tennessee, and a Ninja 600 engine from NYC to New Brunswick, Canada. Does that count?

Should I return this EverStart Platinum battery, or put it in service

I decided to keep it. Popped it in, car fired right up. Start Stop started working every time once again. Not my primary car, so if it punks out early (before 4 years), I'll get a new one.

    Weird off brand cars.

What were you doing to the Alfa? So, you're just like 85% of Americans. I'm guessing you're not really a "Car Guy", according to the "standard" set by people like Jeremy Clarkson, ex-host of the car show "Top Gear". I did. Twice. 2021 Giulia and a 2022 Stelvio. An Alfa Romeo dealer would be...

Have you test driven the car yet? Specs don't mean anything until you are behind the wheel.

    Misfire in Altima 2.5

For a misfire code, I would also put a borescope down the indicated cylinder and look for signs of coolant weepage, too, with the cooling system under pressure, just to rule that out as a possible cause for the misfire.

No go on 02 sensor DIY, and what I've learned

Think of all the other emissions or fuel related stuff no longer needed with electric cars: No purge solenoids No catalytic convertors No tank pressure sensors No egr valves No pcv valves No spark plugs, wires, or ignition coils No camshaft or crankshaft position sensors No vapor canisters or...

    car battery warranties

If you have proof of the lifetime warranty in your purchase documentation, you can give them one last change to replace your battery. Ask them if it would cost them more or less to replace the battery, or to pay their lawyers to defend their stance in court? And also, on your side, you have to...

    car battery warranties

When you BOUGHT the battery, it CAME WITH a LIFETIME warranty. You need to remind YUASA of that. They are legally required to offer you a replacement. What warranty their battery offers today does not matter to you. And argue with them, not us.
