Can I mix oil viscosity and brand?

Why don't you ignore the questions if they bother you so much?

Can I mix oil viscosity and brand?

Some people on this site act like it's a sin to ask a question that's been asked before.

Inaccurate Lumen Ratings On LED Light Bulbs

I would have thought that our 'FTC' could fine the maker of a product that willfully lies about it's product if it's sold in the USA regardless of COO?

Valvoline Maxlife ATF(RED) VS. Valvoline Full Synthetic(BLUE)

I'd use the blue jug in the 2001 4Runner but I'd use the red jug in the 2020 Pilot. The blue jug stuff replaces T-IV which most likely was used in a 2001 Toyota because the lower viscosity stuff wasn't introduced yet. The 2020 most likely takes the lower viscosity Honda fluid which the red jug...

Local oil change place mis hap

The 'splash shields' are often a PITA to remove. I like the way Mazda does it with an access panel removeable with 2 screws that gives access to both the drain plug and the oil filter. My Fords have several screws holding the shield (9 IIRC) and my inlaws Kia Sorento is even worse (12 IIRC)...

    HPL EC usage

I bought a six pack of HPL EC planning to substitute it for a quart of oil in the warm weather OCI. It might go 4 or 5 months in some of my vehicles which don't get driven as much lately. This is more of a PM thing as all of our family vehicles get regular 5 to 7K OCIs with synthetic oils and...

I can't open those links to see the C&P. This is what I get: Is there a way to open these links that I'm missing?

    No more Super Tech MP?

The $5.97 STMP appears to be identical to the nonMP ST that sells for $3.84 except for the silicone ADBV. Unless you're doing longer OCIs (over 10K) there's really no point in spending $2.13 more for the MP IMO. I'd use the ST before the Fram EG judging by the disected filters I've seen.

VW workers in Tennessee vote to join UAW in historic win for Detroit union

Yes they are according to those who 'divide and conquer' Americans to gain power.

VW workers in Tennessee vote to join UAW in historic win for Detroit union

If it gets too expensive to manufacture in 'the South'...the companies will move further south....as in Central or South America. Make no mistake about it....the push to 'globalism' will make some people better off but it won't be working class Americans.

VW workers in Tennessee vote to join UAW in historic win for Detroit union

Outsourcing to foreign countries? PS: I'm not anti-union and believe they are often needed but in my experience the vast majority of 'union bosses' are just politicians who are in it more for themselves than for their fellow union members.

VW workers in Tennessee vote to join UAW in historic win for Detroit union

Does anybody know if the UAW bosses like Fain get paid by union dues or by the car manufacturers or both. I know in some 'public sector' unions the union bigs receive their salary (despite working full time for the union) and a big stipend/salary from the union (paid by union dues).

Should I use PH7317 Fram oil filters or throw them out?

I'd use them......but.....I have seen many Fram EG's (orange cans) with very wide, uneven pleat spacing. As I've said before....it's amazing that Prime Guard/EcoGard can make a filter with evenly spaced, non wavy pleats and sell it for $2 but Fram has trouble doing it at double the price. At...

VW workers in Tennessee vote to join UAW in historic win for Detroit union

I read that the recently settled UAW contract will cause the price of domestic vehicles to rise by about $1000 per vehicle. I guess those 7 year auto loans will get even longer....

VW workers in Tennessee vote to join UAW in historic win for Detroit union

When the non-union plants opened in Tennessee etc...they provided much needed jobs at decent pay and benefits which were lacking in those areas. Do the UAW leaders still receive pay from the car manufacturers or are they paid entirely by union dues?

Why should I buy Mazda branded oil when I can get this Idemitsu oil for half the price?

My sister-in-law has 215k miles on her 2015 CX-5 with the 2.5 Skyactiv that she bought new. It hasn’t had Mazda brand oil in it since it’s 2nd or 3rd dealer OC…and even those were probably bulk oil. It also often went 7 or 8k OCIs. It’s still running great.

    Idemitsu 5w30 SP/GF-6 VOA

Does anybody know if the SN version of this oil was as ‘thin’ as this SP version? I ask because I have 2 jugs of it and I will run it in my 20 weight spec’d Focus if it is.

    AutoExtra 57002 from RA

I'll probably run it for a 5K OCI as I don't believe in throwing away money even if it's only $1.40. The one oil change that I didn't do on the Mazda was when my daughter was working in Charlotte NC and it needed an OC. She took it to Mieneke (or Midas) for a $79 synthetic OC and they used a $2...
