VOA - Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 (Old vs. New Oxidation Levels?)

Does anyone know when the formula supposedly changed where the oxidation levels were reduced? In this set of VOAs, last February, I sent a sample that was made in November 2022 and this February, I sent a second sample that was made in November 2023 and the oxidation levels are the same. I am...

Is DEXOS 1 the most "stringent" US gasoline oil specification?

Hopefully not beating a dead horse or repeating something, but of the main US gasoline specifications is Dexos the "best". For clarity I do not have any GM vehicles. Ford has the WSS-XXXXXX-XX specification and Mopar has the MS-XXXX, I purchased both of these standards and they essentially...

Was in WM tonight and saw this and thought it was a bit strange to see an Ultra be more expensive than an Endurance:

MS Edge on Android - Lost Access to Photos

Anyone having this issue? When I attempt to attach a file to any forum using Edge on my S22 Ultra (Android) the files are grayed out and cannot be selected. It works fine with Chrome and Firefox, just not Edge. I think there was a recent update to Edge so maybe that is the root of the issue...

    Hydraulic Hose

Gang, What hose would you recommend for handling engine oil? My top pressure is 85PSI and the operating temperature is about 240F. It will have crimped -10AN (JIC) fittings and I believe that a 1/2" ID hose is more than enough to handle the volume. Last, but not least, it needs to be flexible...

2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport (Father/Son Project)

Long read (photos to follow soon), but gear heads may enjoy it: Started a father/son project with my youngest a few weeks ago. I had bought him a new 2020 Challenger in the spring of 2021, but he went off to military college later that year and they would not allow him to have a car on campus...

    Teraflex Delta Brake Upgrade

Did this a while back and for any Jeep JL owners here who find they do not have the braking power they should (OEM Jeep brakes are awful--especially after adding more weight and larger tires), I highly recommend them. I had upgraded to PowersStop Z36 pads and rotors prior to this upgrade and...

Oil Fill Levels...Who Would You Believe?

In the biggest load of bovine scatology department from a dealer service writer @ Castle Rock Jeep: We have a 2021 Grand Cherokee L (the L is important) with a 3.6L engine. The owner’s manual clearly specifies 5.0 quarts of oil for an oil change versus the Grand Cherokee (with no L) that...

    Filtering Calculation Help

If you have two filters connected such that Filter 1's output is Filter 2's input (meaning the oil is filtered by Filter 1 and then filtered by Filter 2 before going back to the engine), does anyone know what the calculation would be to understand the filtration efficiency? Thanks in advance...

    VOA - Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30

Taken from a 5QT jug that was shaken (not stirred) with a date code of 11022G15A 6289 as noted on the jug. Given the initial oxidation, I am glad I did a VOA as a baseline (I always do anyway). I am now running this in my Wrangler (replacing VEP 5W-30). Enjoy!

    Wear Increases After OC?

It has been said here at various times that increased wear rates happen after an oil change. While I can potentially see that happening if the oil brand/type was changed or if there was a reformulation of the oil currently being used that happened between the oil changes (like changing additive...

    Rotational Speed Calculation?

I have a 7.5" diameter cylinder that is riding between two 3/4" rollers that are spinning at 575 RPMs. Can anyone point me in the direction of how to calculate the RPMs of the turning cylinder? I know it is not 575 and have roughly counted 75RPM, but would like to know the exact number. Thanks...

I sent a request this morning asking if ZF LG9 is compatible with my 850RE (Mopar 8&9 or ZF LG 8 is what is specified) and already received a response that yes, it is. For anyone who may be having difficulty finding ZF LG8 but can find LG9, you are good to go...

    Upgraded My Trimming System

I have been reloading since the 80's and wish this would have been available back then. I have paid for more than a few of these with the trimming tools that I have tried through the years. Incredibly smooth and not only trims to size, but also chamfers/deburrs all in the same operation. I...
