Will GC cause a drop in mpg?

From what I understand, GC is a high 30 weight oil (high end of 30) while Mobil1 5w-30 is a light 30 weight oil (low end of 30). That could explain the difference in MPG.

    Finally found some GC

I have also recently switched. The wife is not liking my new hobby too much but she understands that this is better oil. I first went to the closest AutoZone (across state line) and found 12 bottles of 04 (green) and 05 (gold) about a month ago. Two weeks ago I went back and found a 12 more...

Toyota Red fluid = Green fluid???

I have an update: 2 weeks after my stealership replaced the coolant to the original Toyota red fluid, I was adding windshield washer fluid and noticed that the coolant reservoir was dry. I know that it was full when I picked the car up. I had no idea if those morons forgot to close the...

Toyota Red fluid = Green fluid???

Well, I finally got around calling Toyota HQ and created a case with them. I explained them what happened and asked them to let me know if there was a difference between the 2 fluids (green and red). If there was, I would like to have the fluid changed. They told me that someone from Toyota HQ...

Toyota Red fluid = Green fluid???

Thanks all, You confirmed my suspicion. I will call Toyota HQ to see if I can get something on writing to show the stealership. I know that if I just go in, they will try to talk me out of it and not change it.

Toyota Red fluid = Green fluid???

I recently took my 2004 Corolla for a 30K change of fluids (oil, manual transmission and coolant). What I noticed when I picked it up is that they put green coolant fluid even though it came with red fluid from the factory. When I went back to the service desk to ask them why they did that...

    5w-30 or 20w-50 for Corolla

Hello all, I have a 04 Toyota Corolla. Currently my plan is to run Mobil1 10w-30 for the summer and Mobil1 5w-30 for the winter @ 5k miles OCI. I was surfing around and I found that Toyota recommends 20w-50 for the Corolla down in Chile (South America). I was wondering if that could be better...

    The wrong oil.

    What Mobil 1 are you using? 5w-30 or 10w-30? I also have a 04 Corolla , I'm using 10w-30 for the summer.

    M1 Oil Color

I guess you don't drink Guiness that often. Guiness is way darker than that.

    Viscosity for 04 Corrolla

Does that mean that that is the ONLY oil to be used? What does Toyota recommend in other countries? The same 5w-30? I just want the best protection for my engine since I wnat to keep this car until it dies. -Mario [ June 23, 2004, 10:22 PM: Message edited by: macaddict ]

    Viscosity for 04 Corrolla

I was just wondering... Would Mobil 1 0w-30 be better than 5w-30 for the winter? Would Mobil 1 0w-40 be too thick for the summer months? I keep reading more and more on here (and caring more and more about what oil I use) about M1 0w-30 and German Castrol (GC) 0w-30 that makes me wonder...

    Esso 10w-30 oil @ BJ's

Hi all, I went to BJ's the other day and I saw that they were selling ESSO 10w-30 oil right next to the Mobil 1 that I use. I was wondering if anyone had any information on this oil. I couldn't get any info from the box in which the oil comes in. I even tried to do a search for ESSO oil in...

    Viscosity for 04 Corrolla

Radhe, I also have an '04 Toyota Corolla. I've had it for 6 months and it has 17 000 miles. I've followed the "service passport" doing oil changes at 5000 mile intervals. I am using Mobil1 10w-30 with a Mobil1 oil filter without any problems. When the winter comes, I'll switch to Mobil1 5w-30...

If that's the case, I will just get the Purolator (pureone) filter instead of getting at the dealer. Thank you all for your replies. -M

Oil Filter for '02 Subaru Impreza

Hi All, Great site!!!! My fiance has a 2002 Subaru Impreza RS with 40000 miles on it. She's been having the oil changed every 3k with dino oil. I want to switch it to Mobil 1 oil and to Mobil 1 oil filters. However, it seems that there is no Mobil 1 oil filter for this type of car. My...
