Best place to buy 6L80E rebuilt transmission?

It's working fantastic to this day, zero issues. The 5 year warranty (IIRC) is good piece of mind. Make sure you write down the warranty code when you do the SPS programming. I can't remember if we had to register the warranty, but you'll definitely need it if you ever make a warranty claim.

    Advics - made in China?

Again, profits. Why would they want their own factory with all the overhead and headaches when they could outsource? It's all smoke and mirrors; find an Advics factory in China and I'll change my mind.

    Advics - made in China?

The factory is operated by a Chinese company producing parts to XXX company's specs. That's basically all it is. That same factory probably produces brake pads for a half dozen (+) companies due to economies of scale. Make it how they want it, slap a label on, then companies that have brand...

    Advics - made in China?

Exactly this. I can buy two equivalent parts from Rockauto, many times they come with a different COO. Same has happened at Autozone and local chains. Nothing surprises me anymore, nor should it anyone else. With very few exceptions, all the brands we knew and trusted are made where they can...

Chinese 196cc diesel engine from Amazon?

I should update, I may have fixed my own issue. It's a faulty fuel cap design. It's basically a sealed cap with a small hole in the middle for venting which leads to a hollow core open to the outside. Nothing there to keep fuel from leaving through that small hole if you tilt the engine. I...

Any lawn experts? Suggestions for planting grass in northern KY.

I'll be on the lookout for a newer variety. KY-31 from what I've read has its benefits. Despite its wider blades, it stays green in the hot summer months with no irrigation despite being a cool season grass. A lot of cool seasons grasses go dormant/brown in the summer here when temps get in...

Any lawn experts? Suggestions for planting grass in northern KY.

I'm right in the middle between Louisville and the Rough River area. Leitchfield is about a 35 minute drive, I have buddy I often visit that has a cabin on Rough River. Great hunting property too. What I've been using (KY-31) is a tall fescue, so perhaps I'm doing it right. But I've never...

Any lawn experts? Suggestions for planting grass in northern KY.

As the title suggests, I need some help with grass seed choices for my lawn. I can't really call it a lawn, it's two acres in a "subdivision" but honestly I don't really care what grows as long as it's green and resembles grass. Some portion of it has been tore up from equipment when I built...

Chinese 196cc diesel engine from Amazon?

I've been running these things on my pressure washer and tiller for awhile-- both work great and have plenty of power for the applications. One thing I'm stuck on. The fuel cap keeps leaking if I fill the tank even close to full; this happens any time the machine is tilted a little bit from...

What are you working on today?

Got my hands (and basement floor) wet. Water heater puts out hot water like it should, but doesn't go the distance like it used to. Drained tank and pulled bottom element-- completely full of deposits, I don't think the bottom element could even touch water. A combination of shop vac, coat...

Brake caliper mounts - which side is which?

I eat my words. The factory service manual isn't very clear. It's some 3900 pages long, you have to pay attention to RPO codes. For my model (GNQ) the pin w/ bushing actually goes on BOTTOM, not top. On another RPO code (GNC, presumably FWD) the pin with bushing goes on top. Not going to...

Brake caliper mounts - which side is which?

If all else fails, resort to the service manual. Pin w/ rubber bushing goes on top (trailing).

Brake caliper mounts - which side is which?

edit: I'm overthinking this lol, you're right.

Brake caliper mounts - which side is which?

I've never encountered this before, but both of my rear caliper brackets are symmetrical and I've mixed them up. The only difference between the two is the slide pins in that one has a rubber bushing, the other does not. If you hold them together in the same orientation, one has the slide pin...

    What's everyone's favorite hot sauce?

Advertisements on TV are never a good sign. Franks is nothing but vinegar mixed with powdered pepper and some other stuff-- I don't remember the exact ingredient list, but it's not impressive. Louisiana hot sauce (generic) is similar to Franks IMO. Cholula I wasn't a big fan of (the Valentina...

2006 Ram 1500 SLT 5.7L, whine/noise on deceleration from rear end

I helped a buddy do a front suspension refresh with new ball joints among other things. He also needs new brakes all around which he'll tackle himself. His latest complaint is that the rear end is making a rough/whine/grinding type noise (I haven't test drove it, so going off 2nd party info)...

What are you working on today?

Co-worker brought his 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 (5.7L) over to have the lower ball joints, sway bar end links, outer tie rod ends and valve cover gaskets replaced. I studied up on the repair and while it wasn't terribly difficult (very few curse words spoken), it was time consuming. I bought the...

    Plug Check

The 2.0T in my Buick is the same way, a high output 2.0T. Pulled the original plugs at 68K and they looked fine. Replaced them anyways. On a 4-cylinder math is in your favor, and if you plan ahead you can get the OEM plugs relatively cheap on Amazon or Rockauto. I replaced mine with NGK...

Forscan PATS key programming - 2010 Expedition

Quick update, Forscan cloned the two Amazon keys effortlessly. Well other than the 12 minute delay each time waiting for some security stuff. There was already the two OEM keys programmed (despite one being MIA) which allowed me to program two spare keys. The whole thing was easy, not so...
