Grease recommendations for RC car differentials

The open gear grease is something I just learned about today. Going to look into that brand you mentioned. Ball diff isn't an option with this truck.

Grease recommendations for RC car differentials

I have that grease and I like it alot but it's not thick enough for the center differential on my truck. I need something that is a bit more vicious to reduce the diff action and keep the power from unloading to the front wheels. Admittedly I haven't tested it in a diff, but doing the finger...

Grease recommendations for RC car differentials

I've got several 1/8 scale RCs that need their metal gear differentials cleaned and relubricated. Unfortunately the grease I would like to use is over $10 for less than an ounce of it. Many RC lubricants are relabeled products from the bike and automobile space so hoping I can find something...

I'm going to follow my OLM!!

The only oil I am aware of that can go that long would be Amsoil (Redline if you're not worried about warranty). It is possible that due to the large sump (I have a G8 as well) that the oil life on this car may last longer than cars with smaller sumps. Anyone know if larger sumps allow for...

    Need a new oil recommendation

Considering you experience the same winters as I do, I would suggest a good 5w-30 such as Redline. It's pricy, but is thinner at cold temps than GC while still maintaining viscosity at higher temps.

    Need a new oil recommendation

Some studies have shown that thinner oils reduce oil loss through the rings. The Mobil1 0w-40 is even thicker than the GC. Perhaps you should try a good 0w-30 or 5w-30? Realizing that your oil loss may be due to other factors than rings, but it's worth a try in my opinion.

    using 5W30 instead of 5W20

To the OP, you could run a thinner 5w-30. Castrol Edge for example, is darn near a 5w-20 in terms of viscosity and has great specs for pumpability at colder temps. I'm sure there are other 5w-30 or 0w-30 oils that are close to a 5w-20.

Anybody run Redline in there daily driver?

Does running Redline in a new GM vehicle void the warranty? I didn't see the GM approval rating on it and wondered...

Logic Check Please: VIsc From Oil Pressure & Temp?

logic makes sense. But sometimes science and logic don't correlate. Maybe someone else can chime in as it sounds interesting.

    Opinions on Castrol Edge?

Right, it appears that US Edge is a Grp III with some PAO added to it per their web site. Based on the specs for the European version of Edge, it looks like they're a full grp IV. And the European market gets more grades than we do as well.

    Considerations for Frequent SHORT Trips?

To the OP, I asked the same question about a week back and am not too far from you in Y'town Oh. I am going to try a thinner oil for my frequent short trips. My car calls for a 5w-30 so I looked for the thinnest oil that can pump at low temperatures and decided upon Castrol Edge. If your...

    Burn-off?

I thought so. Either way, my G6 hates Mobil 1.

    Burn-off?

My 06 G6 GTP burns oil as well. I think our cars have a different engine though. Yours have the 3.9?

What brand of oils do we KNOW work well..........

My 2006 Pontiac G6 GTP absolutely hates anyhing Mobil 1. Eats through a full quart every 2000 miles. PYB works much better. Only eats about a half quart every 2-3k.
